R9 and Vieri would cost twice as much nowadays compared to what you paid for them
anyway, the price is obviously ridiculous, hes worth 20M max in reality.but its only ridiculous because there are idiots who actually pay that much (qsg, madrid, barca, city, chelsea etc)

of course inflation counts for something but its ridiculous how a golden ball winner would move for half that amount a mere decade ago

Re: Summer 2012 Transfers Thread
I'm not too disappointed with us not signing Lucas.
For what it's worth, Tim Vickery, an expert on Brazilian Football said this about Lucas:
"He's undoubtedly very talented, but there's a big difference between him and Neymar. Winner of the Copa Libertadores, voted best player in South America, Neymar has done it. Lucas, on the other hand, is still much more promise than reality.
I thought it was a huge error to promote him to the senior international squad last year. I really think he should have gone to the World Youth Cup rather than the Copa America - in the former he would have carried the status of the leader of the attack, which would have forced him to develop the collective side of his game.
He has blistering pace, can sustain it, has short space dribbling skills and can shoot from range. But he can be selfish and at the moment he lacks versatility.
Last year Sao Paulo played him up front and he looked very unconvincing, and he also does not look happy on the left. He's a right-sided striker/winger/attacking midfielder - which would not seem to be a priority area for (Manchester) United"
It's good we aren't spending. There are plenty of cheaper, quality wide-forwards that the club can sign. My only gripe is that Branca spent a month and a half in Brazil and came out with nothing. At least we can say this season that we have tried to sign top players (Even though none of the negotiations have been successful).

Re: Summer 2012 Transfers Thread
it is always a risk to pay that much for a brazilian youngster. most of them come on a high and then start dropping in form, and spending all nights drinking and whatever ... remember robinho, he came as the new ronaldinho and boom he turned out to be the most over rated player ever. even ronaldinho did not stay on the same level and got fatter and fatter. Adriano was once the most promising attacker, and we rejected a 100 million offer from chelsea for him, then threw him for free 2 years later. in our situation we should look for hidden talents that can come cheap like coutinho and alvarez

Cesar - Dos Santos Swap ?
Inter continue negotiations with Tottenham for Julio Cesar, though could swap the goalkeeper with Giovani Dos Santos, Sandro or Kyle Walker.
It is well known that Spurs and Arsenal are battling to take Julio Cesar after the Brazilian was replaced by ex-Udinese shot-stopper Samir Handanovic.
According to the latest reports from Italy, his agent has received a promise that Tottenham would pay Julio Cesar’s wages for two years.
In exchange, Inter are set to sign one of their players on loan, most likely Giovani Dos Santos.
Other options, such as Sandro and Walker, are more difficult due to their price-tags.
The Nerazzurri would prefer to sell Julio Cesar on a cash-only basis, but are prepared to consider a swap.

Comes off as a huge asshole, and he seems extremely cocky despite the fact that he hasn't accomplished one single thing of note during his career...He's nothing but a journeyman
And seeing as he has bounced around so many clubs before he even turns 24....he is either vastly overrated by the people of this board based on FIFA/FM information or he has serious attitude issues...
Either way do not want

Re: Summer 2012 Transfers Thread
Well I think he does have attitude issues as in he used to focus on getting drunk and going to clubs rather than getting a spot on the team. He left Barca because he thought he was star and he thought he should be starting, but I think he's matured now and wants to play. I don't think he's good enough for world class teams, but a mid table team should do him fine.
Also they just had a Tuttosport journalist(don't know if reliable) on a show and she said Stramaccioni wants money instead to focus on players he actually wants, so I guess you get your wish lol

Re: Summer 2012 Transfers Thread
Im glad
Not sure where this type of rumor comes from anyway
Even basic logic would say we wouldn't be in for GDS...
We already have Sneijder, Palacio, Coutinho, Alvarez all competing for 2 or 3 spots

i'm so detached/uncaring about our transfer targets atm that ideally i wish they just choose the ones who have better stats on fifa. it's the first (and only) thing i'm looking up when we're linked to someone

agreed I like it
We need more depth at striker though....badly
If we get rid of Pazzini that leaves us with Milito, Palacio, Longo, and Livaja
In that situation were 1 injury away from utter disaster

Re: Summer 2012 Transfers Thread
We're in advanced stages of negotiations with Porto for Alvaro pereira. Also we've began negotiating for Fernando as well. If we cloud pull this off then I'll consider this a good mercato, great if we sign a striker. Guarín, Fernando and pereira were the core of that AVB team that bossed everyone

If we were to get Pereira and Fernando this transfer window will have far exceeded my expectations, however I am still very nervous about the lack of depth at striker

gargano is a good player and ill b happy to see pazzo go, but we need a striker badly to replace him. we should have kept casta

i think we will use palacio as a replacement of milito in case of injury since we have many available players to play behind the attacker, but still we need a striker

Handanovic
Zanetti - Silvestre - Samuel - Pereira
De Jong - Guarin
Alvarez - Sneijder - Coutinho
Milito
Zanetti - Silvestre - Samuel - Pereira
De Jong - Guarin
Alvarez - Sneijder - Coutinho
Milito
If we can end up like this at the end of the transfer window, then we could actually call this transfer market a success And we seem really close to both Pereira and De Jong,so it might be possible
