Re: Arsenal Lobby
Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has been charged by the Football Association with improper conduct following recent comments on the social media platform Twitter.
Frimpong, 20, was involved with a minor altercation with a fan of a rival team on Twitter earlier this month after the supporter tweeted abuse aimed at the Arsenal player. The player's reply was quickly deleted.
An FA statement read: "Arsenal's Emmanuel Frimpong has been charged under FA Rule E3 for improper conduct in relation to recent comments made on Twitter.
"The allegation is that Frimpong posted comments amounting to improper conduct and/or which brought the game into disrepute, which included a reference to ethnic origin, faith or race.
"The player has until 4pm on 27 July 2012 to respond to the charge.''

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Thierry Henry has admitted he would consider returning to Arsenal possibly as a coach after his career has finished.
The 34-year old, who now plays for New York Red Bulls, enjoyed a successful spell on loan at the Gunners in January last season during the MLS off-season.
The Frenchman is unsure if there will be a repeat of this next season, but revealed there could be a return to north London in the future as a coach.
"I don't know how, it depends," Henry was quoted as saying by The Telegraph. "Seriously, I don't know. I just want to finish my career [first]. I would go back to England, for sure, with Arsenal. Coaching does interest me but I really don't think about it right now.
"I don't plan to go back [again to play for Arsenal] and I didn't plan to go back and play last time.
"It was only because of the guys [strikers Gervinho and Marouanne Chamakh] went to the African Cup of Nations. They asked if I wanted to play, and that's it. I was there to train."
Henry also refused to discuss the future of former team-mate Robin van Persie as he looks set to leave the Emirates.
He added: "I've nothing to say about it. They have to deal with it and that's just the way it is...It's a hard one. I don't want to get involved into this kind of thing.
"It's a tricky one but obviously I don't know what's happening. It's difficult for me to talk about it."

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Lol, how would he have anything to say about a contract situation in a club on the other side of the Atlantic? Stupid to even ask that question!
Well he also said he wants to return in some capacity, even as a water boy. I am not sure how good a coach he would be, but in a few years, it would be nice to see both him and Dennis Bergkamp employed with the club. We could always have Henry as a Football Development Director, a la Viera at Citeh. Henry is a great ambassador for our club.
But its all a decade from now. First I want to see us reclaim our position above all the riff raff, still under the stewardship of Arsene Wenger.

FA are nuts for being strict. i consider this just a petty issue. Why can't they just let go of this.???

Oh yeah, I actually read about that before and forgot
They're anal about it because Yid is a reference to Spuds' Jewish fans and then the comment could be misconstrued as anti-semitic and blah blah blah.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Mikel Arteta has set his sights on surpassing last season's goal tally when the new campaign gets underway.
The Spaniard notched eight goals in all during 2011/12 - including two for Everton - but he wants to contribute more from midfield this time around.
"Last year I scored eight - all in the Premier League - so this time I want double figures. Hopefully I can do that, more than ten goals would be quite good I think," he said.
Arteta, whose tally last season included the winning goal the last time Arsenal met Manchester City, is eagerly awaiting this Friday's match against the Premier League champions at the famous 'Bird's Nest' stadium.
"We want to win because that gives you confidence not only for the next games, but also for the work we are doing in training. If we can win on Friday it will obviously be important, though it's not the main thing.
"The main thing is to get the fitness going, and put together the work we have been doing in training out in the game. If we can win too, that would be a plus."

Apart from Koscielny, the contracts of Song, Sagna and Gibbs also run out in 2014. Now that we have Koscielny committed, we should also open talks with the others at the earliest.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Lukas Podolski appears to be holding out for Robin van Persie’s number 10 shirt after Arsenal announced the squad numbers for the forthcoming season without including the former Cologne man on the list.
The German international, who continues to wear the ‘nummer zehn’ for Die Mannschaft and used to sport the digits at the RheinEnergieStadion, appears to have held off taking any of the available squad numbers recognising that his preferred option could be freed up by the exit of the Dutchman.
Fellow new boy Olivier Giroud has inherited the number 12 shirt, as seen recently on the back of compatriot Thierry Henry, while Wojciech Szczesny takes over the number 1 shirt after the departure of Manuel Almunia.
Amazingly, Ju-Young Park retains the cursed number 9 shirt which has been worn by the likes of Nicolas Anelka, Davor Suker, Francis Jeffers, Julio Baptista and Jose Antonio Reyes during the Arsene Wenger era.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
The last successful player to wear number 9 for Arsenal was Alan Smith, who retired in 1995.
Ian Wright wore the number briefly afterwards, but he took number 8 when Bergkamp arrived and took Merson's 10. Merson then wore 9, and the curse began - Suker, Anelka, Jeffers, Reyes, Baptista, Eduardo and now Park Ju-Young... all seemed to suffer from serious injury or just not being that good.
Coincidentally, the curse's beginnings coincide with Wenger's arrival. So maybe he's the one who's cursed?

RVP said the same exact thing when he extended in 2009.
We'll see how loyal Koscielny is if we go without a trophy for the next 3 years.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
if Koscielny leaves in 5 years i won't be upset with him, unless he was blatantly lying as to why he wants to leave. He's been here 2 years, this year was his breakthrough season, and stays another 3 years, i'm cool with that. I just would've been pissed if e left this season coz it would've been another "Oh i had a great season, i can join City now" kind of thing. But if he gives it his all for another 3 years, and either it is or isn't going well for him, or if he wants trophies that we still haven't got then cool. Atleast to me he didn't get too big for his boots and packed his bags after one good season.

I did say that Robin would remain my fav player if he left. But it didn't turn out that way which is hypocritical of me. I didn't really believe he would go after sooo much was done for him, and how little he has really done for us. At that time i had my bias goggles on. My immediate reaction was to defend Van Persie. But when i took a better look at the whole situation, i just couldn't defend him no more.urbaNRoots wrote:The Verminator wrote:if Koscielny leaves in 5 years i won't be upset with him, unless he was blatantly lying as to why he wants to leave. And then reading what Walcott said just made me think how can he be more mature than a 29 year old captain of the club? If Walcott is indeed asking for 100k then yea that is too much, but still he is remaining professional (up to this point). Although tbf i would be upset if he left coz he felt he deserved that much more money...
