ALEX SONG will seek assurances on his Arsenal future from manager Arsene Wenger as the club attempt to finalise their year-long pursuit of Yann M’Vila.

Song is happy at Arsenal and is a mainstay of Wenger’s midfield, but he does not want that situation to change with the arrival of M’Vila and anticipated return to fitness of Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby.

Song’s current Arsenal contract runs until the summer of 2014 and is worth around £55,000-a-week.

But having made over 40 appearances and produced a number of assists for Robin van Persie this season, he will seek an extension and a substantial pay rise.

We should sell him instead of messing his career more. Anyway, selling him would be at a loss, given how less he has played for us. SUCH A STUPID SIGNING!

1. We rushed into a deal, knowing that the player had 2 years before he had to go for military service and would give us no resale options.
2. The player was nowhere near good for us. He has been fit for the entire season and yet featured only in a handful of substitue appearances and reserve games.
