ALL I SEE IS MORE MOOLA
the Real MOOLA for us comes when we get new sponsors and deals
I think if someone like British Airways comes into the deal, Emirates won't be that stupid to give us peanuts
al the way I see a better deal coming

But I have to say, I don't know why you'd want England to beat Italy just to lose to Germany in the semis

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Chamakh stay possibly dependent on Van PersieMarouane Chamakh’s future at Arsenal may not be as clearly unclear as once thought.
The probable arrival of Olivier Giroud in addition to Lukas Podolski will certainly intensify competition for places up front, however a representative of Chamakh’s seems to think he might still have a future at the club:
The priority is Arsenal. If Van Persie leaves, he wants to stay. If Van Persie stays, he should certainly look elsewhere. If they take Giroud, he will be competing with him.
Gilles Grimandi then popped up on the scene to say this:
There will be a discussion between him and the coach about how he sees things. If he feels he can fight for a spot, there will be no problem to keep him with us. If he demands more playing time, it will be different. This is a discussion that he must have with Arsene.
Things have been awfully quiet on the Chamakh transfer front. Whilst Montpellier rejected outright the inclusion of Chamakh in the Giroud deal, there is now talk of them taking him on loan.
They’ve signed young Gaëtan Charbonnier from Ligue 2 as Giroud’s eventual replacement, but his lack of experience at the top level means they could probably use the services of a consistent Ligue 1 performer like Chamakh for a year. They’ve also got the Champions League to play in next season and will be looking to expand their squad a bit.

I am surprised nobody brought this up (or did I miss it?).
Anyway, the funny thing is, we are in another turbulent summer now with the captain of our team in the eye of the storm.
Iirc, Theo was also waiting to see what RvP does before starting his negotiations for a contract extension. It is of paramount importance to wrap RvP up before our pre-season starts, to give us enough time to have a settled team from the first game of the new season.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Arsenal’s star Brazilian Andre Santos has no space in the national squad and coach Menenzes was not afraid to say why. According to the Brazil team coach, Santos’ technical indiscipline cost him his place in his team.
Menenzes claims that he had constant headaches with the full-back when they were both in Brazil at Corinthians, and he’s not eager to go through the same problems at international level, preferring to avoid having to use him.

“The issue surrounding Andre Santos is a tactical one,” Menezes told ESPN Brazil.
“He made my remaining hair become grey when we were at Corinthians. Why? Because he is tactically irresponsible.
“We can’t afford that kind of tactical risk in the national team.”
Santos has been a pivotal piece in Arsene Wenger’s squad last season, and has played every position possible on the left side, proving that he can listen to what the coach has to say and that he has a very wide action range.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Menezes isn't wrong, is he? Andre Santos has little positional sense and often has to make recovering tackles that make him look a better defender than he actually is. If not for the fact that he's excellent going forward, I wouldn't want him playing for us, either.

What about Marcelo? goes forward more than Santos, and yes if Santos was not so good at going forward, I dont think any of us would take him at Arsenal or he would make it in a big club.

He has some speed to recover, and Santos is slow as hell, and cant catch up to the person who burned him.Raptorgunner wrote:GoonerJay29 wrote:Menezes isn't wrong, is he? Marcelo's quicker, more aggressive and more determined, which helps recover from poor positioning on the pitch. Plus he's younger, so he can, theoretically, still be coached on the finer points of defending.

Just because he's tactically inept doesn't mean we should take his tackling skill away from him because he's actually a very good tackler and he's good going forward. He'd be a decent winger if we needed to play defensively with two fullbacks on one side. Obviously Gibbos is first choice though.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
I'm not taking his tackling ability away from him. It's obviously a useful skill to have, as it helps him cover a weakness. All I'm saying is that a good defender has both good tackling ability and positional sense, not one or the other, and that's why I can't fault Menezes' opinion of him at all.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Santos is a real team player and passion for the game, I know many of you remember the game vs City and Ballotelli was bullying our defense and Santos came on and fought for his teammates. He is a great back up for Gibbs and we can also use him on the wings.
Under Wenger he will get stronger and better every game and I am really glad we signed him. His goal on the final day alone makes him a Arsenal legend, Arsenal finish 3erd and Spurs lose out of the CL.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
That line-up might work, since Walcott has the pace to track back and Podolski is surprisingly disciplined on the flank (though it compromises his attacking abilities), but I'm not too keen on a Song/Wilshere duo in midfield. Arteta has to start, for me, so I'd prefer a trio of Song/Arteta/Wilshere.
