Seriously, Sell Agger and Rodgers can *bleep* off. If he sells him this year.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2012-Rumor Crazy Months!
According to BBC's report on the matter, Adam Johnson might be coming our way on loan if this Agger deal does happen. I'd like A. Johnson but much rather had him as our players, not just on loan.
Hopefully there'll be no movement between Liverpool and Manchester, though.

Also Rodgers basically said in his interview, Come with the money and we will sell him.
So its a good chance he is going. I wont forgive Rodgers until he guides us to 4th this season if he sells Agger.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2012-Rumor Crazy Months!
We have to sell to buy.
This is the sad fact. If we don\t sell anyone, we won't be able to complete any more transfers.
We are no longer one of the biggest clubs in the world, after this "Every player has a price" quote.
Went from Torres to Carroll, Alonso to Aquilani, Mascherano to Poulsen, and now from Agger to Ashley Williams probably. The New Aston Villa.
Viva FSG !~~~~!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think it's ultimately meaningful to blame FSG. I don't think they ever were meant to be a sugar daddy owner.
We're not a top-4 club in the Premier League in terms of spending power any longer and while no one of us wants to lose our better players we must try to make the most out of the situation, i.e. get good money for our sold players. That happened with Torres and if we get £22m+ for Agger it's satisfactory. After all he has got only two years left on his contract and hasn't signed a new one so far.
As long as we don't sell cheap and do reinvest received fees I won't place too much blame on FSG.
Say we get £22m for Agger. Who would you lot buy? Another CB or give Coates or Kelly a chance there?

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2012-Rumor Crazy Months!
I know I said this earlier, but just reading the BBC. Apparently Chelsea and Wigan are close to agreeing an £8.5m deal for Victor Moses. I think he is worth that money, is only 21, 6 goals and 6 assists for Wigan last season. Could obviously be that the player prefers Chelsea to us, but I just hope we would have been interested. I would really have liked to see him in a Liverpool shirt for under £10m. Quite the same as Marin going to Chelsea for £7m.

BR on Agger.
"Daniel is a top player and you do not want to lose your best players," Rodgers said. "He has been here seven years. He loves the club and its supporters. But every player has his price and we will see where it goes."

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2012-Rumor Crazy Months!
Aquilani has hit out at us saying:
And I do not think he's got a case. Players do not set fees for themselves, their clubs do.
Also pretty scanty from Milan to do that. Obviously they never had an intention to play him in 25 games in the first place.
"I would have stayed at Milan if I had played 25 games. After my 22nd appearance, I was told that I would not play any more games.
"I appreciate their honesty. They explained to me that it was due to economic issues, and they preferred not to spend that money.
"Even the year before, I had a very high asking price; one that Juventus chose not to exercise.
"The market has changed and Liverpool always asked too much money for me."

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2012-Rumor Crazy Months!
Wait, so he understands Milan not playing him (and potentially hurting their title chances) to not pay a fee they'd already agreed to, but instead blames Liverpool for setting the fee (that again, Milan had already agreed to)? Anyone STILL think he didn't have issues with his head before leaving this summer?
Also, how is Rodgers "forcing Agger out"? The club have already refused several offers and placed Agger's price tag well above what's been bid. That's not forcing the player out, that's conducting business. The club and manager wish to keep the player, but understand that £25-30m for a player that's managed less than 50% of games since joining the club is a very good deal. Howedes, Godin, and a number of other defenders that are very good and promising are available for probably half that price, leaving an extra £12-15m to be spent in other areas (like on forwards). That's a significant bit of extra spending cash, even for a club with a sizable kitty already. If the club were trying to "force the player out" we would have accepted the reported £18m bid that was put in, but we didn't. Settle down and act like Liverpool supporters rather than threatening to turn on the manager before the first league game has even been played.

Agreed. We've reportedly refused 18m, and there are reports claiming that we would accept 25m, although I'm pretty sure those are just based on these quotes, which do NOT say that anywhere. Those same reports are claiming that Man City is refusing to go higher than the already bid 18m though, so it really doesn't seem like he's going anywhere. I think we'll see Agger in the squad come the year short of Barcelona swooping in with a Godfather offer.

I can't see Adam "MOTD" Johnson on loan being rated as £7m+ by the club. So City would still have to up their cash offer or offer him outright.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2012-Rumor Crazy Months!
Liverpool have made it clear to Brian Marwood, City’s chief football administration officer, that they are seeking a fee of about £27 million for Agger. That valuation may appear unrealistic given the 27-year-old’s patchy fitness record, but Liverpool regard Agger as one of Europe’s best defenders and want a fee that reflects that status.
Rodgers claimed that Paris Saint- Germain’s recent signing of Thiago Silva has established the market rate for central defenders. “Silva has left AC Milan for PSG for £40 million,” he said. “He [Agger] is one of the leading players in European football, so it is going to be a big valuation. Every player has a price and top centre halves are at a premium.”
Asked if Liverpool had received offers from City, Rodgers said: “Yes, but nowhere near the valuation of what the player is worth. You can only consider something like that if it is going to benefit you.
“Of course, you might lose a top player but if it benefits you going forward, and you can make two or three steps because of it, you may have to consider it. But we don’t want to sell him, so unless someone comes in with a ridiculous offer that makes you look at it and think you can benefit in one or two other areas, there is no way I want to lose one of my best players.
“Daniel is a top player and any manager will tell you that they don’t want to lose their best players. But I suppose at every club, every player has a price.”
Despite the uncertainty surrounding him, Agger has been named in the Liverpool squad for tonight’s Europa League qualifier against Gomel at Anfield, with Rodgers confident that he will not be distracted either by City’s interest or his own club’s willingness to sacrifice the player.
“Daniel and I have had a number of conversations so he knows where I am at, he knows where the club are at and he doesn’t want to leave which is great,” Rodgers said. “In my first conversation with Daniel at the Euros he made that quite clear. He loves the club, loves the supporters, so that was music to my ears. But we’ll see.”
From The Times' article for tomorrow. LINK
Those quotes are much stronger than what the media/twitter tried to put out earlier today through clever editing. The club do NOT wish to part with Agger, but for nearly £30m we could realistically get a very good replacement as well as another player for the squad/first team. Nowhere does it indicate we would consider make-weights in the deal.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2012-Rumor Crazy Months!
Brendan Rodgers is close to his second signing as Liverpool manager after the club activated the £15m release clause in Joe Allen's contract with Swansea City. The move follows an admission by the Liverpool manager that Daniel Agger could be sold but only for a "ridiculous" fee that would enable him to improve the squad.
Liverpool have already turned down a verbal £20m offer from City, informing the Premier League champions they want a £27m package that could potentially involve Adam Johnson going on loan to Anfield for the season. City consider that exorbitant for a 27-year-old, pointing out there would be little resale value, but are still hopeful a deal can be struck. The club want Scott Sinclair, of Swansea City, to take Johnson's place.
Allen has been a target for Rodgers since he left Swansea for Anfield in June, despite Liverpool signing an agreement not to raid their manager's former club for players for 12 months. Liverpool have exploited a technicality in Allen's Swansea contract that allows him to join one of five specified clubs – Liverpool among them – for £15m and, having met the price, the Wales international is free to hold talks over a move to Merseyside.
The 22-year-old midfielder has been the subject of several bids from Liverpool this summer, with Swansea previously rejecting a deal of £12m plus Jonjo Shelvey on a season-long loan. Allen's expected transfer, Rodgers hopes, will address a key part of his plans for Liverpool's midfield this season and precipitate increased activity in the transfer market at Anfield.
Agger's position may change, the Liverpool manager admitted, should City make an offer that finances several signings at Anfield, where only the £10m Fabio Borini has been added to the squad so far. Rodgers is also keen on signing the Real Madrid midfielder and Arsenal target Nuri Sahin on a season-long loan.
"There has been contact [from City] but nowhere near the valuation of what the player is worth," said Rodgers, who makes his Anfield bow against Gomel in the Europa League qualifier second leg today. "You can only consider an offer for a player like that if it is going to benefit you. You don't want to lose a top player but if it benefits you going forward and you can make two or three steps because of it – you may have to consider it.
"But we don't want to sell Daniel so unless someone comes in with a ridiculous offer, that makes you look at it and think you can benefit in one or two other areas, there is no way I want to lose one of my best players."
So we want 27m plus Adam Jhonson on loan. Not sure City will meet such an high fee for a player with Agger's fitness.

Also we have met Allen's 15m buy out clause. This means we have spent already 25 mil without selling anyone.Wonder how this fits with agenda of people who complain we need to sell to buy?

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2012-Rumor Crazy Months!
Read on RAWK.Apparently this is the full content of what Rodger's said reg. Agger situation:
Q: Do you see the possibility of other players perhaps leaving as well. I mean Daniel Agger is supposedly an interest for Manchester City?
Rodgers: Not really. Daniel is a top player and any manager would tell you they don't want to lose their best players. But I suppose that every club, we've seen it throughout, every player has a price. But for me Daniel is a top class professional. I've really enjoyed working with him and speaking with him a lot in these last couple of weeks since he's been in. And you're going to have your top players linked, but certainly for me, I'm in no [position to sell], as I've said I don't, I'm not forced to have to sell anyone, which is as I've said, which is important. And Daniel is a very, very important player for here. So like I said we'll see what happens between now and the end of the month. But certainly for me, he's getting back up to speed. He's a good guy. He loves the club here. Loves the supporters. Been here what 7 years now? So he's really focused on his work here. But like I say, you can never say never and I'm a realist as well, so we'll see where it goes between now and the end of the month."

£15m for Allen. I'm not over the moon, but maybe he's worth it in the end, we'll see. If he does come indeed.
Why are we telling City to come back with a bigger offer if Agger himself wants to stay? We should be quite happy with that.

Meanwhile, De Vries is the latest Wolves player to have been unsettled by talk of a move. Liverpool, whose new boss Brendan Rodgers managed the goalkeeper at Swansea, are understood to have had two bids rejected for the Dutchman.

Yep i am not 100% confident either.Particularly after what happened in the last 2 windows. But i think its unfair on Allen and Rodgers to judge this transfer based on the failures of Kenny and ComolliArt Morte wrote:£15m for Allen. Probably because he just has 2 years on his contract i think.Negotiation tactics on a new contract hopefully

Agger loves the club, he'll sign an extension without any negotiation tactics being necessary, just sit him down and give him a deserved contract.

We're not "telling them to come back." They made an offer and an inquiry about what it would take to get him, we told them their offer was no-where near where the club valued him and that that valuation was at or above 25 or 27m, depending on which report you believe. There's a significant difference in those two scenarios and I cannot, for the life of me, see why some people seem to be willing it to be the former.

Doesn't really mean he's leaving, it just means everyone at the club wants him to stay even the manager, but the owners will sell if City bid something outrageous.
I have high hopes that Agger will decline going to City even if we agree on a price. The only way we can force him out is if we tell him he won't be part of the team, but BR has him as a locked down starter so the choice at the end will be his tbh.
