Yeah it shouldn't be between Kimmich and Weigl as Khedira's and Schweisteiger's fitness is not a certainty.

Bellarabi and Rudy really shouldn't be in contention. I can understand Podolski, he has had a decent season and has the international experience. Brandt should be the last left out.

Well, I have to admit I must have fallen asleep then. Still trying to get rid of a nasty infection that kept me mostly in bed the last days. Oh, and let me say that - heavy duty antibiotics can be a real nuisance -_-

Ter Stegen made an awful mistake however the conditions at that point were absurd and the marking at the corner was just as much to blame. Kucka was able to take that shot under absolutely no pressure.

Little could be done by Leno on Hamsik's shot but the gaping hole in front of the backline that he filled, coupled with Boateng's lethargic attempt to put pressure on him, was concerning. Coupled with poor marking and keeping at another corner for Slovakia's second, you conceded three very sloppy goals. In a tournament setting, I imagine there would probably be greater sharpness and attention to detail, but it was quite extraordinary to see Germany absolutely dominate for 40 minutes only to throw it all away in a matter of minutes.

Also I thought Rudy put in a good shift at right back, for what it's worth, but I haven't seen him enough at club level to judge whether he deserves a place in your squad.

LOL, I just noticed that I must have programmed a recording of the match as I just found it on my HDD Recorder.

When I took a short look into some random parts, the match eerily reminded me of the Germany-Poland water battle 1974 XD

I suspect if the game hadn't been a friendly, it would have been postponed. At the beginning of the second half it was essentially impossible to pass the ball along the ground.

Yeah, it appeared to me that the players probably would have been able to move faster over the pitch if they had tried to swim instead of plowing through the water on their feet XD

Well, I would never try to second-guess what Löw is thinking as he moves in mysterious ways at times. I guess he will throw dice to determine who exactly will make up his forward line - only one thing should be a certainty: Thomas Müller always has to play ^^

Agreed. Also let's just stop the whole possession charade. Wing play with speed, and hoof the ball to Gomez.
I'm not even being ironic, I actually think this would win us the tournament.

Against PTB teams there's always Boateng's magic hoof from deep.

I with you, I hate Germany with the false nine possession nonsense. Germany became one of my favorite teams in 02 and 06. I miss that direct play. in 14 when they played Klose they looked so much better.

Style-wise, I liked us best at the 2010 WC, we were just lacking quality and depth back then, but that slick transition-play, with counters, which we lured the opposition into by overcrowding their box when they dared give us possession was an awesome mix.

And Müller up front sounds nice, but why, though? When I take your cue, I'd much rather play

------ Gomez

Though on current form in the NT you can bench Özil for all I care.
