Agreed. Baines' quality is not doubted but his age doesn't help. If he does come, it probably signals the end of Evra's Man Utd career

Man United have agreed a five year contract with Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara according to the Daily Star.

The 22 year old Spanish international is set to become the first major signing of David Moyes’s reign as Old Trafford boss and looks set to be complete this week, with some sources suggesting a deal could be announced as the Scot’s first official press conference on Friday.

It won't drag on as long as some would like to believe, the contract clause means a decision is needed pretty soon.

Would expect confirmation either way within the next seven days, i imagine if we're getting him Moyes will want him on the tour.

Not liking these rumors of Nani leaving if we don't replace him.

If Nani goes we need to get another winger. Young is trash, Valencia has become unreliable but on form is dangerous and Zaha will have his transitional first season.

Kagawa is another option but he deserves to play in his preferred position.

If Nani leaves I would like to see us buy another winger, but i haven't seen us linked with any other then Ronaldo (if you believe it), I want Bale ideally, but that won't likely happen till next summer.

if we don't buy another winger and Nani is sold then I guess Moyes believes Zaha will be able to handle the premier league in his debut season....we will have to wait and see tho, 2 months things can change.....pre season will probably answer a lot of questions

Bloody United always overlook the dire need to buy a quality CM.

How many years has it been since we signed Carrick whose presence is as significant as a ghost in big games? The last quality CM/DM we signed was Hargreaves who was extremely good for only one season.

Fabregas was a world class player when he was playing for Arsenal. In my opinion, he almost became a mediocre midfielder after his move to Barcelona. Not only because his old role at his previous club was stolen from him, but the new entourage was a harmful one. The general atmosphere at the club was not what he needed. He needs to be in the spotlight, fact which will surely happen if he comes at Man United. I am sure that if he arrives in Manchester, his attitude and mentality will be changed in a few weeks.

Remember how good was he at Arsenal, how good was he playing in EPL in comparison with his performances in La Liga.

The point is that at Barcelona, Cesc played well and had some important magical moments but he couldn't be the same leader, playmaker that he was for Arsenal. He is still young and I believe that he can be a catalyst in bringing us the Uefa Champions League torphy in the next European campaign.
