Nice data included in the blog, it was interesting to look through the data, though not sure what to add to the thread, I'm mostly supportive of Kick's viewpoint.

The most important detail is whether the coach wants him or not. As a manager, if Torres was in my squad I'd be perfectly willing to work with him, however in a project seeking to rebuild the squad to satisfy the vision of the coach, it's no point keeping him around if the coach feels his presence leaves him with his hands tied. The squad can go forward with or without Torres, as long as it goes forward with a confident decision I'd be content as a fan.

Lampard is the problem. They need a winger and a proper attacking midfielder. Lampard needs a lone physical forward to create space for his runs. Then he scores or assists in front of the penalty area. Torres is a deadly finisher who relies on Pace and service. He'll never get the service he needs with Lampard there. You can't use Lampard as utility player on the field, the team has to be revolved around him otherwise he'd be useless. All you need is a winger who isn't Malouda and can dribble/pass, move Mata into AM and bench Lampard. You'll see then Torres score goals all of the sudden. He isn't someone to do donkey work
I don't see a reason why AVB would have to ommit him from his squad depending on playing style. He worked with Falcao as a 9, a typical poacher in Torres mould

The article doesn't show anything, who cares how many passes Torres gets in the box?

When you have RVP getting passes straight across the face of goal from Oxlade/Walcott/Gerv that's clearly the difference for me. 6 yard hat tricks might not be impressive but it's certainly a sign of great teamwork to get into those positions. That said it's been Sturridge not Torres getting those sorts of goals during the season so maybe Torres needs to know that cross = run towards back post for tap-in...

Chelsea imo needs creative players.

Tigole said it, although they've got Mata now. But other than that, there's not much the kind of creativity that makes Torres thrive.

But hey, Torres is not suffering just because a lack of service. Demba Ba or RVP would have scored at least 10 goals for Chelsea so far this season.

It was bursting the myth that Torres doesn't get good service.

I dont really watch Chelsea much apart from when you play us, and the odd highlights on motd.

But I said a wile back I didn't think there was a problem with Torres. It was the lack of balls being fed to him. When we played you he barely got a shot because of Lampard and Luiz skying the ball all over the place. Most of your shots ended up in the stands rather than on goal.

Anyway I have just been reading some stats on a site I have access to.

Chelsea have had had 200+ shots from outside the box. More than any other team in the league.

How ever looking an efficiency table Chelsea are almost bottom, with only Wolves and Fulham bellow them.

Torres is also the second most firing striker in PL, also see the stat I posted above. Sure he doesn't get service to the extend he should be getting but Torres's goal scoring record is too terrible to lay most of the blame on the team. Clearly there's another issue, and that has to do with the player.
