Marseille's Lucho Gonzalez set to return to Porto - report
Marseille's out-of-favour midfielder Lucho Gonzalez is reportedly set to return to Porto.
The 30-year-old Argentine, who was linked with Arsenal last summer, has spent most of this season warming the bench at the Stade Velodrome and his former club revealed earlier this week that they had made an enquiry about re-signing the player.
According to Canal+, Lucho's future is likely to be decided at a meeting in Marseille on Monday afternoon, with Porto said to be optimistic of completing the deal before the close of the transfer window on Tuesday.
The channel also claims that the proposed transfer could see Porto striker Silvestre Varela move in the opposite direction.
It has been reported elsewhere that Porto view Lucho as a replacement for Fredy Guarin, who has been linked with Inter in recent days.
Lucho spent a hugely successful four-year stint with Porto before leaving for Marseille for a fee of €18 million in 2009.
__________
Would he succeed there?

He has already succedeed in Porto. He was one of our best players, if not the best. I really hope he's coming back!

Re: Marseille's Lucho Gonzalez set to return to Porto - report
Olympique de Marseille have announced on their official website that they have reached an agreement in principle with Porto about the transfer of Argentine playmaker Lucho Gonzalez.
Marseille
president Vincent Labrune already revealed earlier on Monday that the
31-year-old was on his way to Porto, and a transfer is now one step
closer after both sides have agreed terms.
The Portuguese giants
are expected to completed the move in the upcoming hours, with Gonzalez
set to sign a two-and-a-half year deal with Porto.
Gonzalez previously wore the Porto jersey from 2005 until 2009, before leaving the Europa League holders for Marseille.
The gifted midfielder quickly became a key player at OM and guided them to several trophies in his first two seasons.
However, he had lost his starting berth this term and was keen to move on in January.

Barrilette Lucho n'a franchement pas apporté grand chose à l'OM surtout que son jeu est basé sur la puissance physique.
Un Hatem avec des épaules plus solide aurait fait malheur
This guy cost OM 25 millions Damn , at least he has been better than Gignac

Was better under AVB, he is like like a black Pedro. Needs creativity around him.

Belluschi is a good player, shame to lose him.
But with Lucho, Joao and Defour I think Porto will be fine.

First loss of the season, in the league anyway.
Broke a 55 game undefeated streak.
Also, no Hulk...

Yeah, but it's not only about that match, but also their CL campaign.
In fact, they were pretty good against Barça and Benfica, so it's not like AVB's absence made such a huge impact instantly.
Falcão is still sorely missed too.

Re: Marseille's Lucho Gonzalez set to return to Porto - report
Yeah, they clearly are not the side they were last season.
Tactically, AVB always had the answers, this season they seem to miss that.
Falcao is a big blow, it reminds me exactly of the season they sold Lucho. They didnt replace him with anyone even half as good and not untill they got Joao Moutinho did they start playing well in the midfield.
Kleber isnt good enough and neither is Djalma.

All time record of undefeated streak is 56 games by Benfica So close.
More than missing AVB we are missing Falcao. We went from a really great striker to bad ones. It's really making a huge difference.
