Let Dos Santos play! im biased..

Romeu is not good enough for us IMO, but as a sub is not a bad option. But seriously, it would be a stupid deal to sign him now for 10 milion considering he hasn't shined much.

Official: Barca B reach agreement with Xerez central defender David Lomban (25). Player will sign a 2-year deal with the club on Wednesday.

So Barca B CBs for next season so far: Sergi Gomez, Ayala and David Lomban.

Edgar Ie (CB) close to signing from Sporting Lisbon.

note:
- Bartra and Muniesa are promoted to 1st team.
- O.Rosell and Armando left the club.

Alba, Pique and Cesc all jumped ship before coming back. The Barca board certainly doesn't consider jumping ship a detriment when they assess new candidates.

All these guys were 16 when they left, in Fábregas and Piqué's case, it was the regulation in United Kingdom which allows 16 year-olds to sign professional contracts as opposed to Spain's 18-year-old age requirement. Romeu however left when he was 20 when he could have signed a contract with Barcelona but decided not to.

Was Romeu actually offered a contract by Barca? That's news to me.

I cannot imagine they didn't want to keep him in Barcelona B.

- Forwards: Rodri (22), Kiko (21), Deulofeu (18), Rafinha (19), Dongou (17).


Possible Transfers: Edgar Ié (18, CB) and Agostinho Cá (18, DM) from Sporting Lisbon.

note: Tello is not promoted to first team? (no clause in his contract)
Muniesa, Bartra, Montoya and JDS are 1st team players (according to their contract, they will be promoted) if they stay that's another story!! (some could go on loan)

Romeu is nowhere near good enough for Barca.... even as a squad role.

Just buy a CB and be done with it, the rest of the team is fine.

We just sold Romeu. The lad did nothing wrong.

I don't want him back because he is not good enough and paying 10 milions a year after you sold him for 5 milion is stupid. More if you consider that he hasn't shined much.

PS. Alba didn't "jump ship" either. Barça released him, which is very different.

JDS is not a Mexican International. Not sure he has even got an official cap yet, only some friendlys. He refused to play in the Olympics when his NT and get a chance to play alongside his brother. The NT came calling to instead play pre-season friendlys with Barca. If I were Mexico I wouldn't even bother calling him up for the WC. I don't think JDS is good enough for Barca tbh. I would sell him or loan him out and see how he does starting for another team in the first division before giving him an honest chance.

On the back-up DM. We still have Masch for starters. We've criticised him there and it may not be his game, but he can improve there and is not a horrible backup at least. Remember Busi plays very often, he has excellent fitness. Thiago then even filled in nicely last year. Often when Keita and Thiago were on, it was Thiago actually playing the anchor.

On Fontas, yes... I think he can do a good job there, but it might not be enough of a reason to keep him around. He played very well there when captaining Barca B.

Muniesa did a good job there too.

Between Thiago and Mascherano, as well as Fontas, Muniesa and JDS, we have plenty of options for DM. We don't need to invest there. We aren't going to get a really good backup who likes warming a bench for cheap. Just buy a CB and don't give other positions any thought until that is done.

I can't honestly believe Fontas & Muniesa figure into the first team's plans this season under Tito...At this point, they're depth for training purposes...Players like these should be getting a run out or playing more regularly to see if they have the quality to play first division football...Loan 'em

Muniesa has the quality in my opinion.

What is this upside based on? Romeu hasnt done anything, anywhere.

And what poor performances? I recall hardly any.

He has heart & leadership qualities but quality on the pitch?...I haven't seen it in a few years now, for club or country...He's either injured or steady but never spectacular in any facet of his game...I'm not even sure where's he supposed to be of value going forward?...Is he a LB?...A central defender?...He's been underwhelming for a long time now...Would love to see him turn a corner but I question whether he has the game to play with teammates of this quality...I will say he looked adequate in his sparse minutes with the first team last season but that's a far cry from being a squad player

He has featured heavily both for club, country and now the Olympics in his years leading up to the transfer to Chelsea...Despite inconsistent minutes, Romeu made a big impression whenever he did get a run out...There is a buzz with the Catalan player and he can slot back to central defender, perhaps more importantly he is a leader on the pitch...the same cannot be said about JDS who is even a year older

Muniesa played very well the second half of the season for Barça B as DM and CB. He is not a LB, so we shouldn't consider his qualities going forward. But as a DM or CB he is very good for his age and has future. He is not as technically gifted as Bartra, but he at least has some blood in his veins, unlike Bartra.

There is a "buzz"? Seriously? He hasn't played at all since RdM took charge in Chelsea and considering how it went, I don't see him playing anytime soon with them. I've got nothing against Romeu, but he lacks technique to play for us. While JDS has technique enough to play for us but lacks physique to be a DM.... none of them are ideal to be honest, but as a backup I would go for what we already have.

Romeu is average at best, have no idea what the world see's in him, as far as distribution goes he's decent but defensively he's awful.

His positioning is great, he is a willing tackler and he is much more mobile than Mikel.

His positioning really isn't great, not sure about this tackling and it's far too easy for attackers to get the best of him 1 v 1.

Yes he is more mobile than Mikel, but he still shouldnt mentioned in the same breathe as him.

Mikel is a quality DM who get's far too much unjust abuse on here..... Romeu on the other hand is defensively poor and been overrated due to having better movement and distrubution.
