Re: MMA Thread
Henderson has won the match via UD. New champion.
Loved Frank, put character in every one of his matches as champ, displayed a never say die attitude and proved never to be a Cinderella story vs BJ Penn.
Round win count: 4-1. Seems a little too seasoned to me as I thought Edgar had the edge on the 5th.

Yeah i gave round 3 to Edgar myself.
Basically, i gave round 2,3,4 to Henderson and round 1 and 5 to Edgar. Still a win for Henderson, awesome fight though. I was a bit surprised by how many take downs Edgar was able to get tho, dunno if it's the size that made the difference. Against Blanca it didnt seem like Henderson had bad take down defense.

I actually missed the last two fights because my friends wanted to go clubbing last night. Will definitely watch them though - Sherdog claims that Edgar should have won?
I actually felt that Akiyama was robbed against Shields. Not a huge robbery, but I thought Sexyama did enough to win

Nah, I missed it. Apparently Rousey was impressive though; something about the name 'Ronda' for a woman just screams "I can kick some ass" to meTHC 10 wrote:Did anyone watch the Rousey v Tate fight last night?

Re: MMA Thread
Sonnen vs. Silva II tonight! We shall find out once and for all whether Silva is truly the best middleweight out there, or if Sonnen really is his kryptonite. Silva has recently, uncharacteristically, started making comments about ending Sonnen's career as well, and at the weigh-ins cheap-shotted him with a shoulder strike, so you know it's as personal as ever. Sooooo pumped
I think Silva will win, but all Sonnen antics aside, I would like to see Chael win and blow the division wide open.

- Spoiler:
- On a side note, is anyone else annoyed by the UFC flip-flopping between calling Silva and GSP the GOATs at every chance they get? In the buildup for every fight for either guy, they consistently call them both the greatest ever to hype up their fights. They are both contenders for it, although IMO Fedor's accomplishments outdo both of them, but pick ONE ffs!!

Anderson wins uin the 2nd round Via TKO.
He gives Chael the first round to take home...then just smacks him on the 2nd. Lands a beautiful knee that completely drained Chael before finishing him off.

Re: MMA Thread
The only fight I'm even somewhat interested in seeing at this point with Silva in the middleweight division is a rematch with Hendo (who has been fighting at LHW anyway). Other than that, he has cleared the division. That weight class needs a hot new prospect, because with Sonnen having lost, it's not even interesting. Either that, or he needs to finally fight GSP, who has basically made the WW division predictable as well.

Good fight, Sonnen came out strong in the 1st round, got owned in the 2nd. Dude was just in a daze after the knee to the face.
Sonnen looked pissed as hell after the fight when Silva invited him for a BBQ

GoalLegacy, y u no keep this thread alive???
Silva just crushed Bonnar last night. It's tricky because Bonnar never should have been fighting Silva, but at the same time there was the argument 'but what if Bonnar pulls a Rocky?' Retrospectively, the fight never should have happened.
On another note, Nogueira

That knee Anderson put in Bonnar was fkn deadly.
Anderson just knows how to land these. Every strike comes as a cinderblock to the crucial areas.

Saw this shit while drinking beer at Hooters
Great night for the Brazilians. Dat knee to Bonnar, frack.
Nogueria killed that American guy. He looked so old flabby compared to the other guy, but damn does he rape the ground.

So many people were complaining that Nogueira physically looked like crap at the weigh-ins, but then he does that. He won't win another title but it's nice to see he is still at an elite level.

Re: MMA Thread
This thread is obviously not very active, but some big news is that Dana White has said GSP and Anderson Silva will be fighting each other in their next fights. It's not clear what weight they will meet at because Silva will not go below 178 pounds and GSP wants to fight at welterweight so Anderson doesn't have a size advantage, but when all that's sorted out, this will be the biggest fight in the history of the sport. Even Liddell/Wanderlei and Fedor/Cro Cop aren't as big as this one.
I'm backing GSP to win via takedowns and ground work, influenced by the fact that I'm Canadian of course, but wouldn't surprise me at all to see Anderson take him out. The winner is immediately going to be considered the GOAT, even though this butthurts me as a Fedor fanboy

No title will be on the line when Anderson fights GSP, but I can't wait for that fight nonetheless.
In other news, Erick Silva vs Jay Hieron was confirmed for UFC 156
This event card looks just great so far:
Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar
Rashad Evans vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
Alistair Overeem vs. Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva
Jon Fitch vs. Demian Maia
Erick Silva vs. Jay Hieron

Best card in a long time. I'll go for Aldo, Evans, Reem, Fitch and Silva.
Really want Maia to submit Fitch but I don't see it happening, Fitch doesn't take enough risks on top to be caught in many subs or sweeps.

Re: MMA Thread
UFC on Fox 5 and UFC 155 are stacked too. December will be a great month for UFC fans.
And I pretty much agree with you guys on the predictions for UFC 156, even though I'm not so sure about Fitch v Maia since Maia has the best BJJ in the company and on a given day he could submit anyone.
As a side note, great pic
