Grant Wahl · @GrantWahl
NYCFC having Lampard from Day 1 in Year 1 was a measuring stick of how seriously Man City owners took MLS & NYC fans. Answer: They don't.
Insert Frank into this as well and it's bang on.

I dont understand, do you think he should be attempting to throw games for city? He's a professional who is paid to play as best as he can for City, and the only reason hes in that situation is because we pushed him out. I dont see anything wrong with what hes doing

"Love Story is over when he joined MCFC"
it will resume when he leaves city permanently !! For me he is now Ex Chelsea Player, a Chelsea Legend who now plays for Manchester City.

A "professional" who signed a contract for and made a commitment to one club and its fans only to walk that back in favour of playing for the direct title rivals of the club he allegedly "loves".

Obviously I don't nor would ever expect him to deliberately underperform for them, and said as much myself a few months ago – it's the fact that he's extended this loan itself at all, having moralistically vowed repeatedly before being released he'd never even dream of doing so.

Not happy with this tbh, I thought 6 months or what ever it was fair enough. But for the whole season, nah *bleep* that hes damaged his legacy already in my eyes now.

TBF wouldn't be that arsed if he left for NY now, but the fact that he's extended you know he's desperate to get City the title and get one over on us.
Payback is a bitch I suppose.

You lot are pathetic.
In the heat of the moment, you've made fools of all of yourselves. Remember why he is a legend at this club, and will always be a legend.

He's at the end of his career, lets not make out he is doing a Figo on us.
He is a legend, you know it. Deep down.
Also, Stevie G is set to leave Liverpool so don't talk too soon.

Re: Sir Frank Lampard
In a time where people are constantly moaning about players following money and taking the easy path, yet when Frank continues to show the top level ambition, dedication and work rate that made him a legend when by all means he's proves himself as one of the words best, all you guys do is moan and complain.
You were all quick to laugh at arsenal and 'pool fans when they cried about Cesc and Torres joining Chelsea, but now you're all doing the same thing

Re: Sir Frank Lampard
I've never denied he was a legend. Only said that he went back on his word to a great many people in his decision to do this and that's it's utterly belied all the fuzzy-wuzzy, self-serving nonsense he was spewing his entire final few months here.
If you're going to pontificate about loyalty, moralistically big up your ‘love’ and ‘respect’ for the club, and pompously show off banging on about how much of those you allegedly have when a reporter's got a microphone in front of your face, expect people to see that you prove it. If you lot believe there's something wrong or unfair in holding someone accountable for their own words, and their own commitments, then that's your problem.
“It has been a huge part of my life so it cannot be anything but a wrench [to leave]. I never really thought I’d see the day. I was so entrenched in the life at Chelsea.”
“It overtook my life. As a young West Ham boy moving across town, the club became my home very quickly. I’ve been lucky enough to share it with lots of great people. – Chelsea have been fantastic with me throughout my career and it was a mutual decision. And that’s the way I wanted to go. I maybe would have gone away last year in a different way, but now I go with a very happy feeling and respect for the club.”
-“There were a couple of opportunities to stay here [in the Premier League] but I can’t imagine playing for anyone else after being 12 years at Chelsea. I’ve got a lot of respect for a lot of other Premier League clubs, particularly the top ones, but I'm not sure I could have done that.”

Re: Sir Frank Lampard
What did you want him to do then? The club he signed for (NYC) hasnt even started pre-season training for its debut season yet, and he couldnt go out on loan to Melboune City because David Villia went there. Theres no way they would let him (or would he want to) sit around for 18 months waiting for NYC to start, and similarly theres no way the City group would let him play for another club
You make it sound as if he forced his way out of Chelsea to go to City, when infact it was the opposite, we pushed him out the door

kudos fatman & Kick
My sympathy for those moaning about this is pretty thin. Particularly when every Chelsea fan I know is completely unsympathetic when its the other way around - unashamedly so - the carefree nature of your fans is the one redeeming quality of you lot. (really).
If you're going to accept having a squad of money grabbing mercenaries don't complain when they chase coin elsewhere after you send them on their way.

I can only speak for myself, and all I've said is that he's contradicted entirely his intimations about Chelsea before he left as well as his sanctimonious, self-righteous avowal to not only never play for another Premier League side, but to never be able to.
Holding someone to account over their own words is not treating them unfairly. Period.

Re: Sir Frank Lampard
Its not like he had a choice to prove otherwise, Shed.
You're just mad because he is playing for a rival who is tying with us, if he was playing and winning games for, say Liverpool, you wouldn't care because he isn't winning games a direct rival.

Re: Sir Frank Lampard
"I'd never play for another Premier League club" - lie.
"I want to make New York City a team that New Yorkers are proud of. And I will do my best to do that" - lie.
"It is a privilege to be able to help make history here in New York City - I just can’t wait to get started and be part of it" - lie.
"I joined City to stay fit before starting in the States" - lie.
Even this "loan" from NYCFC to MCFC was lie, because it never was a loan. He signed contract with Man City as a free agent.
As Frank said, he had 16 offers, but HE choose Manchester City.
He lied to all the New Yorkers who purchased the 11000 season tickets. He lied to Chelsea fans by going to another Premier League club. Why are you so sure that his words about Chelsea didn't offer him any contract has not been another lie?
He remains one of the greatest players in the club's history, but, as a person, he has disappointed many.
