Germany
Sorry if there's a thread already...
So they decided to go 4-1-4-1,and not a traditional one with a DM behind two CM's but a CM behind two AM's.And the CM is Schweinsteiger.Bold move from Loew...
It seemed the world opted for defensive football in recent years, however more and more teams go the other way these days..Attacking football making a comeback?

Re: Germany
All hail Löw It might work but not with Mertesacker He needs to start Schmelzer-Boateng-Hummels-Lahm together for it to work, at least in theory...

With Khedira back, i dont think it will stay that way, or at least, they will have more cover.

Re: Germany
Against weaker sides, maybe. I found the 4-2-3-1, lightning counters much more attractive, but that's just me.
Loew is doing way too many changes at once... he needs to calm down on the experimenting if he wants a solid team. There's like 1 or 2 caps per game, literally.

Re: Germany
low is the best manager in the world. with 4-1-4-1 i think he just wanted more attacking movement against an inferior team, to build up confidence, morale, and keep the players on their toes. doesnt hurt to experiment once in a while. gotta have a plan B

He said this was plan A now from what I understand...
Merte might be dropped from this system though...Is this how they play?Haven't seen the recent games.

Lahm - Merte - Hummels - Schmelzer
Schweinsteiger
Mueller - Goetze - Oezil - Podolski
Gomez

Re: Germany
i'm sure kroos will be in there in one way or another. he can drop back to support schwini if all hell breaks loose
i highly doubt low is stubborn enough to use this formation against the likes of spain, netherlands, brazil, etc.
with muller - kroos - ozil - gotze, low can at least have the luxury of converting back to his normal 4-2-3-1 if the 4-1-4-1 isn't working. kroos is slowly learning his trade as a deep lying playmaker for bayern, playing next to schweinsteiger of all players

Lahm is not coming out of the right flank, guys. He plays wherever he's playing at Bayern. So:
Please no more Christian Trash. Oezil and Godze are not playing at the same time, even if they can.
Neuer
Hoewedes Boateng Hummels Lahm
Schweinsteiger
Mueller Khedira Oezil Podolski
Gomez
Bench: Wiese, Gotze, Mertesacker, Klose, Kroos, Schurrle, SchmelzerHoewedes Boateng Hummels Lahm

Gomez

Still think 4-2-3-1 is the way to go for Germany......
I personally want to see a front 4 of......
The movement and speed of passing would be awesome to watch especially with Ozil and Muller swapping Fake 9 and Fake 10 roles ala Messi and Fabregas against Villarreal....
Neuer
Beck Mertesacker/Boateng Hummels/Howedes Lahm
Sweignsteiger Khedira/Kroos
Goetze/Muller Ozil Podolski/Schürrle

Re: Germany
Yeah, 4-2-3-1 is very solid. The only team to break it was Spain, the rest got sorta raped.
Although with a few modifications Spain would have had the same ending
Mueller's not a born goalscorer, though. You really need a Gomez, Klose type to bury those chances.
It would be awesome if they adapted a possession type game, though.

Klose and Gomez slow the sexyness down and make it more predictable
Will someone please think of the sexyness

You stole my attacking four! All of them can swap roles but Götziller makes most senseImmaculate_Mole wrote:Still think 4-2-3-1 is the way to go for Germany......Neuer

Re: Germany
Nobody stole anything. I said in the old forums that Germany should start Muller in CF because Klomez aren't needed in a mobile system Bottom line, great minds think alike...Immaculate_Mole wrote:babun1024 wrote:You stole my attacking four!Immaculate_Mole wrote:Still think 4-2-3-1 is the way to go for Germany......Neuer

4-1-4-1 definitely means the incorporation of ozil and gotze. i think this is what lowe is saying between the lines.

spain never broke germany. they won by a set piece and germany actually achieved 50% possession in that match, and they didnt even have their best player, thomas muller

Again, people trying to fix something that really isn't broken. You want to talk formations? start talking a bout a formation france, brazil, or argentina can use to try to threaten winning the world cup...

Low is not brave enough. He always backs up on his style in favor of a more conservative one, and ends up paying for it.

Re: Germany
To be fair his conservative style gets him pretty far with teams most wouldn't have given a chance before big tournaments.
Granted Spain have been a bitter pill to swallow for them but he's been doing a good job.
(Especially against Argentina /troll)

4141 is naive in my opinion. I sure hope that is never used against a really strong team with similar talented opponants.

Re: Germany
I don't know Dani.
Neverkusen showed in 2002 that when used correctly a 4-1-4-1 formation is quite deadly.
Although whether this Germany can pull it off is a different issue.

Re: Germany
In recent interviews it seemed like he now wants the players to play both systems depending on the opponent and availability of players.
I'd love
Boateng - Badstuber - Hummels - Lahm
Schwein - Bender
Müller - Götze - Özil
---------Klose
Löw clearly loves Podolski so I doubt he gets dropped any time soon though.
It's a great team but clearly lacking another world class CB, great
RB and an alternative to Klose.
We produce too many mid fielders and not much else.

Re: Germany
I also feel with Mueller it would have been a different outcome, but Germany played pretty awful in that game. The players sort of sat back and waited instead of pressing, which is essential if you want to break up that monotomous possession Spain play. Most of the game was spent defending deep and there weren't much of those sweet counter attacks. Loew showed his inexperience there and payed. Oezil was also pretty burnt out.schnix wrote:Sushi Master wrote:Yeah, 4-2-3-1 is very solid. The only team to break it was Spain, the rest got sorta raped.

I aprove of 4-1-4-1 against weaker teams or as a tactical choice, but the main choice should still be 4-2-3-1, IMO. Germany has good defenders, great midfielders and a FAST front 4, that all fit into a counter attacking scheme.
