Re: The Press Room
Martin Montoya: “Thiago will be there”
One of the leading lights of this season’s Barça B team, Martin Montoya, has voiced his opinions about some of his youth team colleagues, with both Thiago Alcantara and Bojan Krkic receiving high praise from the young defender.
Montoya, who was given his first-team Barça debut by Pep Guardiola against Mallorca in March of this year, spoke openly of his admiration for fellow B team colleague Thiago Alcantara, saying, “Thiago is set to be the alternative for Iniesta and Xavi. The day they go, he will be there. I’m sure. He is, for me, a player who is a number 10.”
Speaking ahead of his involvement with Spain at this summer’s European under-21 championships, Montoya also revealed his belief that under-fire forward Bojan Krkic has the quality to still succeed with the Catalan champions: “Bojan has the right abilities to stay. For me he is a real crack. I think he has had few opportunities.”
Asked about the current crop of youth team players who are being given their chance to shine with the first-team, Montoya was certain of the good work being done. “They work very well with the quarry. The people in the first-team behave very well with us, as does Pep. It’s amazing because it gives us the opportunity.“

Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara (20) had suffered an injury to his left ankle while playing for Spain U21 against Russia.
MRI revealed the injury is not very serious and Thiago could be ready when Spain play England in U21 European Championships next Sunday.

dani, I thought the same when I read this suggestion posted earlier. I can't see a way to fit him well into our system. At most maybe as Iniesta's understudy but he is too big a name for that.
This brings me to another point. Sometimes we perhaps do not appreciate enough that Villa and Pedro play off the ball thus making it easier for Messi and our midfielders. However when players like A.Sanchez and G.Rossi come in, how far will they play off the ball and would their trying to get the ball too much cause any adverse effects?

I dont think so JD, not those two players.
Rossi is a natural striker, he knows very well the importance of off ball movement. For Villareal, you can see the importance of it and his role there. I dont see this as a problem.
For Sanchez, he was once a winger, they too generally have the appetite to work away from the ball. As in the last forum, I put up a video of him vs Milan. In it I analysed and picked apart his good and bad points. Did you see it?
Anyway, there is perhaps a question mark, but overall I dont think it will have adverse effects. Its someone like Nasri (a offensive midfielder) masquerading as a forward which would cause the problems.

Numancia coach Unzue will certainly return to Barcelona, most probably as goalkeeping coach of the first team, maybe as B-team coach [sport]
