Well, he is in the last year of his contract, and he's really not worth over £9-11million.

It's called negotitating, you just don't pay what the other team is asking for.

But who am I kidding, I'm talking to a fan whose club is planning to pay £15million for Perreira to sit on the bench.

What the heck has Cahill achieved for Boldon to demand 17 mil when he is in the last year of his contract... the nerve of them being pissed at us for offering 6 mil lol. The boy is 25 and has less than 10 international caps- while players like per Mertesaker are going for 6 million as well. Bolton will give in during the last day of the market, because we all know Cahill will NOT sign a new contract

how is cahill better than Kos when , koscielney has better tackle ratio, better passing ratio, beter 1 v 1 ratio, and more goals ... stop repeating what ever you hear on tv

Arsene Wenger has reacted to Bolton’s public statements regarding the club’s bid for defender Gary Cahill.

Described earlier in the day as ‘not even close to derisory’ by Owen Coyle, Bolton chairman Phil Gartside took to Twitter to re-tweet a Bolton fan’s opinion of the reported bid.

When quizzed about it in his press conference, Wenger said, “That number is completely wrong. If Gartside can say I am lying I am ready to confront him.. You can believe Gartside or you can believe me. It’s not right. It’s not the truth.

“The truth is that we never speak about our negotiations. If a club doesn’t want to sell a player it can keep him. When we sign a player we come out here and tell you and keep the price a secret”.

And just to make things even more clear, Wenger said, “If you ask do I want to buy your house and you are not happy with the price you say no, that’s it.

“Why should you feel insulted? I don’t understand. If the player is not for sale they can keep him. I don’t understand the problem. If we want to buy the player we buy the player. I do not have to explain for how much.”

Arsenal’s chief negotiator, Dick Law, was in Bolton on Monday to try and broker a deal but clearly the difference between the clubs was too great, and with this very public falling out, it remains to be seen if Arsenal will turn their attention elsewhere.

Bolton are acting like they are in the position to call shots, when in reality Cahill is not going to extend his contract. There is a reason why none of the big teams met Bolton valuated price...not even close to it. In the end they will lose him for free, and this will be hilarious

Cahill is an English international and he's relatively young. Personally, i don't rate him that highly... but a good offer would be 10 million pounds because he has several years left in him and he may get better. This is a little insulting to him frankly.
