I honestly think he will come good.

I'll laugh if he ends up going for £5mil or so. We were being quoted £17mil in the summer and apparently the Bolton chairman laughed us off when we bid £7mil. Guess the joke will be on them.

Cahill had one decent year when Bolton had one decent year under Coyle, and this lead to the media bigging him up as some sort of world class talent that'd make any of the country's best defences better.

This season, he's been one of the worst defenders in the whole league.

That's not to say he's terrible. I'm sure he'll improve and be a solid signing for Chelsea, but he's decent at best.

What is special about him?!

could go either way imo, he could be our replacment for JT or he could replace paulo ferrira and tbh for 5mil im happy for the club to take that risk, if he flops it wont be nearly as bad as the torres saga and if hes somewhat successful then its a good investment, i just hope we dont offer him riddiculous wages

anyways the only other cheap "PL proven" CB i can think of is Chris Samba and i prefer Cahill to him

Seems Bolton would have been much better off selling Cahill a year ago. I guess his average first half of this season has effected price.

Chelsea could really do better (even for a back-up) IMO, so I'd be happy enough to see this deal go through.

Actually, let me reword that... I wouldn't be bothered if he went to Chelsea. He's still a good/decent CB that can improve, and a player that would strengthen Chelsea's depth, so I wouldn't be happy with the deal... just wouldn't be particularly unhappy either.

Tbh any defender with his experience is a bargain. I mean like 5 mil......lol

He is playing in an incompetent side, but with a move to Chelsea he will be surrounded by better players. It is just second nature to claim British players are overrated nowadays lol something Cahill is suffering from.

Bolton on the other hand will get relegated even if he stayed. So no harm really done to them with his departure.
