Bojan to roma, jeffren to lisbon, romeu to chelsea and more...
It's not common to see this team sell their players on any level, but 3 spanish players i can remember plus 2 who had already in arsenal this summer. This team is known for youngsters who graduate to their senior team and with many more like thiago, soriano, jonathan dos santos whose future are in doubt, what is the future like?...

Selling players with buy back options who have immediate time to play in the first team due to having young world class players ahead of them...
More like they are sending out the young for first team experience, and Soriano isn't young anymore and Thiago has been locked down with a new contract

And we all know the deal with the two that went to Arsenal. They're here now, and after a few seasons they will have Barca DNA, and after a couple of years of media speculation they will go to Barca for ~40 million each.
Lovely business for Arsenal, this Barca DNA stuff

The Roman Empire often sent its young, promising officers and politicians out into the wilds of untamed countries to blood them and allow them to gain experience. They often returned battle-hardened and ready for military and political life.
What Barcelona is doing isn't so different from that imo.

Madrid got critisized a lot when it sold its youth products with buy back options, seems like Barcelona has joined the trend.
I still think it's a good idea, some players are just not good enough to make it into the first team, and the excuse of being homegrown is sometimes pretty lame a reason to justify their selection.
In the end they may prove their worth elsewhere and return to their mother club, Arbeloa, Granero, Callejon and Pique were farmed out to various clubs and have now returned much better than they left.

No Madrid get critisized because they dont give any of their youth products a chance since Casillas not because they sell youth products with buy back options.
Great quote Mclewis, that is sig worthy and naturally ill be using it

Who since Casillas do you honestly think was good to start or play a part in Madrid's first team but is not already in the team?

Wouldn't that mean your scouting system is not good?

Mata and Eto'o etc etc

Anyways, since you did'nt give them a chance how do you know?
Pedro and Busquet's were no where near good enough when Guardiola brought them through but he had trust in them and moulded into players that would fit the system perfectly.

As if Eto'o at the time he was sent out on loan was going to get selected ahead of Raul, Morientes and co. And mind you that was before Casillas came on to the seen. He shined at Mallorca but at that time it was pretty useless for Madrid to buy another striker when even Owen couldn't get enough playing time, Barcelona though after many trophyless seasons were in need of a striker and rightfully purchased him.
There are countless more deals which proved unsuccessful, I think some of the comments here are pretty hypocritical considering the fact that players like Bojan, Jenfren, Romeu and Pique were not "given a chance" at Barcelona but were sold out of the club.

How did barca not give bojan and jeffren a chance? Bojan has for example 104 appearances for the senior club while whenever jeffren got into form, he got injured and Pique was only 16 when he moved from barca to Man Utd and how many times have you seen a 16 CB start for a top club?

Again though no one is criticizing Madrid for selling players to get experience and including a buy back clause the critizing for Madrid comes from not giving player's a chance to prove themselves.
Ok they might not have been good enough but you dont know until you given them the chance to prove themselves.

this kind of debate never goes anywhere, barca is having a good time with their youth so they shoot everyone who isnt.
jeffren was given a chance? why sanchez? why afellay? they just took bojan and jeffren spots. where are nolito and soriano who did so well with barca B?
i can neat pick like that all day, boring. why not make the whole B squad back up for the first team? why sign villa when you had wonderkid Bojan ready?
why is pep after cesc while he has thiago? why sell romeu? why masch? you had romeu. see?

Nick both Bojan and Jeffren were given chances, they are obviously not good enough at this time. As for Romeu i pretty sure they just dont want another Cesc scenario on thier hands.
As for the Cesc transfer i cant explain why Pep wants him when Barca have Thiago other than the fact he is sexually infatuated by him

Jeffren was given a chance(atleast compared to what real madrid give their youngster a chance), but whenever he got into form he got injured.
Why do pep want cesc? I have no idea. I have been asking myself the same question.
Bojan was not ready to be a starter for barca, thats why barca bought villa, same with romeu.
It's ridiculous to compare barca with real madrid when it comes to giving youngster a chance or say that barca don't give a chance to youngster, when barca barca usually starts with 7(while RM only starts with 1) graduate from la masia

Re: Bojan to roma, jeffren to lisbon, romeu to chelsea and more...
Bojan: coming back in 2 seasons.
Jeffren: not barça leve.
Romeu: has a buy back clause, although I don't think he'll reach our level.
The two other youngsters, Barça didn't want to sell them, Arsenal signed them cause they didn't have a pro-contract.
So nothing to worry.
