Wilshere had an amazing game. It's well in the range of Sahin to play a game like that. My only reserve lies on the way Sahin plays on the ball. He isnt a diminutive CM like Wilshere, which means he doesnt have his kind of mobility on the ball. kinda reminds me that it wouldnt hurt to have that kind of CM Very Happy

He's way way more mobile on the ball than Xabi and Khedira thou, so he still strengthens us in that regard. And I think Zidane was the perfect example of how you don't need to be diminutive to be mobile. With great technique/touch you can always stay one step ahead of the defender. Like the popular youtube serie about Zidane proclaims, "It's all in the touch".

Zidane was sneaky fast actually. A couple of strides and suddenly he was past people. In his teens, he was actually fast.

I know what you mean. But the benefit of being short is that you take smaller steps and can have more frequent touches on the ball without loosing speed, thus chainging direction faster and being much harder to tackle. I know, I'm 173 cms myself. Messi and Maradona being the prime example of this benefit. But they are not faster than a player like CR7 when it comes to sprinting and I'm not sure that Messi have a higher top speed than Zidane when he was at his fastest. A bigger player take bigger steps and thus need to have a more perfect touch to be able to shield the ball. Say what you want, but Ibra is a technical marvel considering his height and way more impressive in that regard than players who are 170 cms.

He isnt injured again. They are just being very cautious so not to rush him and jeopardize his knee needlessly. He wont play the supercup of course, so we might be able to see him only in the bernabeu trophy.

if we are to go by what AS reported and that he is infact "injured" and will be out for 15 days until his knee stabilizes, i dont see a way for him to actually play in the bernabau cup which plays on the same day

and if he hasnt played in a single preseason game, it will be even harder for him to scratch himself a place unless he is a complete fighter, the lass kinda fighter

I read the article, they are saying that Sahin will be "de baja", which is, in state of injury for at least 15 more days. He didnt hurt himself again, but since he wont be available for the supercup, the earliest we might see him is during the trofeo bernabeu, so he will be "injured" until then.

He was supposed to come back in china, but when he started training he had pains in his knee, a step back. So he is working hard on the joints and muscles in his knee area at the moment. Since it's a delicate area, it's better not to risk him.

He actually came back too early and re-aggravated it from what i understand. He tried to practice before China and eventually felt pain + swelling in the knee. Once that happens, you're starting from square one again. Just have to wait for the pain and swelling to completely go away.

Swelling and pain is bad news... especially swelling. Pain alone is not such a big deal. It means that there's some kind of open injury still there. If i were part of the medical team, i would completely shut it down for a week and go to ice+electrode treatment. Try it again in a 7-10 days and see if he can do some movement with no symptoms.

I really don't like the Madrid medical team.
