It has to be. Pain is not something that is a real concern with tendon issues... you can easily practice and play with it as it has nothing to do with the injury. I partially tore a ACL a few years back and, once healed, i had some pain once in a while because scar tissue would get released. But i could do as much activity as i wanted without worry as long as there was no swelling (swelling happens when there's blood still releasing into the area). A sprain is a tear.

Either the pain is something he cannot cope with personally although the knee is fine. Or he was medically asked to sit because the pain was caused by swelling. Would be king of a pansy if it's the first case... and i doubt it.

Varane for no 5, Sahin can take Canales' 16 or the 19 vacated by Varane. He can take Kaka's 8 when he leaves.

Sahin is more likely to get the n.5, there is a direct connotation to Zidane here, and as a playmaker who was called the turkish zidane in his youth, it's more appealing commercially.

so he will be zidane's shadow. living under the name of a legend instead of being one on his own.

nah, simply making the connection between the number, and the playmaking role, which previously belonged to Zidane, as he was our last GREAT playmaker.

Sahin is next, im sure if he gets it, the press will compare both, but it's not an issue.

Di Stefano wore the 5 from what I've heard, and 5 is supposed to be a defenders number, which is why it should go to Varane not Sahin. No reason to prolong our silly tradition of making our playmakers wear 5.
