Official: N'Zogbia to Aston Villa
Aston Villa and Wigan release a joint statement confirming that a fee has been agreed between the clubs for midfielder Charles N'Zogbia.
BBC.
Could be a great signing for Villa, one that they really needed after all the departures.
Wigan, surely this season they will be going down?

Re: Official: N'Zogbia to Aston Villa
Sold Downing for 20m and got someone better (in my opinion) for just over half that amount.
Good business.
I suppose Albrighton will replace Young in the starting 11?
Think they need another player if they are to match what they have done previously. Service to Bent should be the number 1 thing for Villa, if they get that down pat and are good at the back they will do well.

Re: Official: N'Zogbia to Aston Villa
The ultimate inconsistent player.
Doesn't do anything for 4 games...then scores a wondergoal in the 5th game.
Never helps out the defense (fullback) and is an absolute liability off the pitch in the dressing room with a disastrous attitude.
He will fall out with McLeish (and his style) within 2 months.
No team work, no work rate, no consistency, no mental stability ...1 moment of brilliance every 4 games.
glad my bet on Villa going down looking good
The most overhyped player in the league.....He raped Konchesky and Insua when we faced them which is no glory, but last time when he faced a proper defender (Kelly), he couldn't go past him even once

Pick up Scott Parker on the cheap and Villa won't be looking half bad coming into this season.

Amazing signing.
Dribble merchant on one side of the pitch and a pacey David Beckham on the other.

If Aston Villa get Lansbury on loan and play him in midfield, they'd be looking pretty good imo.

Was hoping he'd come to Sunderland and score in the tyne-wear derby against his old club.

Thier midfield would still be utter crap until he gets a partner because as it stands they need a whole new midfield.

Well, they have Makoun who isn't "utter crap". I know this won't happen, but this would be the perfect place for Lansbury to go for EPL experience. They're a good team, and he'd fit in pretty well imo.

Btw, whatever happened to Martin Petrov? While looking over the AV squad list, I saw Stiyilian Petrov's name and I immediately thought of the Petrov that was letting all hell break loose with Manchester City a few years back. I used to love him back then.

Re: Official: N'Zogbia to Aston Villa
He isn't as good as the guys he replaced. Thats why he only cost half as much. you reap what you sow.
So far, so not very good. Classic tricky winger with all mazy runs and no end product. I think he'll do better, but so far we're really missing Young and Downing, because he isn't a patch on either of them.
Not even good enough to replace half of one of the players we have lost nevermind the two he is expected to replace.
For me the juries still out on Albie/zog combo and given the choice now I would rather still have Ash/Downing as our wingers
Nzogbia and Allbrighton are nowhere near as good as Young Downing and never will be
It doesnt matter that comparative stats favour Albrighton, he'll never be as good as Downing. And even though N'Zogbia compared favourably with those two last season, or even better, and is younger, he's no match for them either.
Not even close at the moment both Young and Downing are excellent players . We will miss them far more than we missed Milner or GB imo and will take some replacing .
All of these from Villa Talk. And they have had a decent start to the season, and yet this is their reaction
[Expects GoalLegacy experts to say some random Spanish winger at Levante is better than Young/Downing now...well they are not ENGLISH after all]
Like Fergie is stupid to pay 16M for a player with 1 year left on his contract ,or Kenny 19M for one with 2 year left...when CHARLES MESSI NZOGBIA who is according to GoalLegacy experts (mostly La Liga fan boys) is a much better player than both of them at half price
