Re: Arsenal Lobby
Guys we concluded last season that a solid defense is prolly the most important thing in doing well in the EPL today...even city finished above us at end thanks to them tightening at back...
Has our defense improved or gone worse?

Gazidis has a grilling session in store for him with the Arsenal Independent Supporters Association later today.. Would be interesting, considering this will be a more hostile environment than the AST meeting which was earlier in the summer.. Watch this space for more..

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Some interesting snippets from the Q&A with Gazidis today:
He told fans that the Emirates Stadium is vital for Arsenal's business model, and that the benefactors that Chelsea and City currently have overshadow the benefits of this model.
He said the self-sustaining model is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain and described the unease in the game at financial issues.
He said the boards strength is in its stablity and says remaining competitive is an acheivment.
Arsenal will no longer announce attendance figures during matches, after criticism that they do not reflect the actual amount of people in the stadium.

It looks like the England/Netherlands game has been called off, or soon will be, because of the riots in London.
So van Persie is safe from injury until the next game.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Armand Traore has been called up to the senior Senegal squad for their game with Morocco this week.
21 year old Traore had previously represented France at youth level right up to the under-21s but, with the likes of Patrice Evra, Eric Abidal and Gael Clichy ahead of him with regards to the senior side, he has now decided to switch his allegiance to Senegal, who is eligible to play for due to his parentage.
His decision could yet have repercussions as far as Arsenal are concerned, with Senegal on course to qualify for the 2012 African Cup of Nations which take place between January and February next year and, with Traore currently installed as Arsenal’s second-choice left-back, it could prove to be something of a concern for Arsene Wenger, particularly if Kieran Gibbs picks up an injury at that point.
depressing....maybe Jenkinson could do a job as cover if Traore goes to the african cup

Re: Arsenal Lobby
In case you haven't heard yet, the England/Netherlands friendly has been officially called off because of looting in London.
With the way things are going, it wouldn't surprise me if the start of the Premier League is pushed back.

Last night it spread to Liverpool, Bristol, Birmingham and even a bit of Manchester. It's very possible other areas will be hit, too.
Ultimately it depends on how things go the rest of this week. The police are the ones that will make the decision.

According to this map, Reading has not been hit by any riots or looting.
Usually, it's the worse areas in the cities that are being effected. The "posh" areas have remained uneffected. It is possible that some of the worse areas in Reading might be subject to looting, but I can't say for certain.
