Like Messi the guy won everything possible bar the world cup. So it made perfect sense when he cried after the world cup exit. But the other cups? At 40 you are no longer responsible for your teams success or failure. He is certainly too much bothered by the media sayings.

You guys mock him too much. He is extremely egotistical and terrible self centered personality, but at same time a phenomenal generational player. Sure he is behind Messi. This constant comparison to Messi is over the top IMO. You have to credit the guy for still being fit and playing well at 40.

For that matter too, Messi still is playing well. But let’s recognize both are playing in B leagues, but able to contribute to their NTs.

I agree that he deserves credit for playing well and staying in so good shape at his age. The Messi vs Ronaldo debate seems to live rent free in the minds of their respective fans, much moreso than in the mind of Ronaldo himself.

It was a bit strange to see him weep at his age and I pointed that out, but I have nothing but respect for his footballing ability. I couldn’t care less about how he measures up to Messi.

He got a penalty in injury time and missed it

Almost straight afterwards, the game went to penalties and he didn't miss that time. Portugal hit all of their penalties while Slovenia missed every single one of theirs.

I'm sure there are a lot of memes about him. Like Bill pointed out, he's very self-centered and often looks quite animated on the pitch. I think his personality tends to overshadow his ability, though. He's become far less consistent with age, and he's nowhere near as explosive as he used to be, but for someone who's approaching middle age, he's still in incredibly good shape.

Seems confused going forward and he's average defensively, I rate Darmian a lot more.

But he scores an odd goal here and there and gets an assist as well. He always seemed a lot better for Netherlands.

Hala, don’t be so bitter. Güler has been fantastic and is leading Turkey at 18. However, Yamal has been just as fantastic and is only 16. Both of them are great and will be stars. Other difference is Yamal will be a starter on a weaker Barca, whereas Güler will be a reserve, at least initially, on a stacked Real Madrid.

Cameras will always be focused on him and so will his players so to take away from another invisible performance this is how you take away the narrative.

All over instagram it will be winning mentality and what not but since his Juventus days these crying displays have been a regular.

Since Juventus, where the spotlight was less upon him naturally; the usual routine is this.

Bad performance? Meander to a more secluded part of the pitch away from players, towards the crowd look to the skies and sob.

Completely takes away the scrutiny from him.
