Euro 2024
Seems like little attention for this tournament coming in the not distant future?
Draw just came out for the groups and as usual there is a group B of death with Spain, Italy, Croatia n poor Albania. Second hardest group is prolly group D with France, Netherlands, Austria n winner of playoff A.
Thought I would have lost interest but now actually looking forward to it with anticipation for some reason
Who do u think will win it? Any thoughts in general?

Re: Euro 2024
England should win it, but won't because of Southgate.
Probably France. Spain my dark horse pick.

England has the best team since I follow football, if anything was ever coming home, it should be in the next couple of tournaments.

Re: Euro 2024
Hell of a group we got. The upside is that from my ticket application I only got 1 game, and luckily the draw gave me Italy-Albania.
Spalletti has to build the team fast and win the first match, the talent is there, he needs to do what Mancini did in only a few months.

Re: Euro 2024
Nice... must be mad to be watching these types of games in the stadiums
Germany hosting it so pretty sure they will do whatever they can to up their game no matter what, they have been under performing for so long.
Teams like France, England n Portugal are pretty loaded with stars, n maybe one last effort from CR, similar with Belgiums golden generation. Too bad Haaland will always be forever disadvantaged being with weak NT Norway n wont be there...
As usual, lets see which teams crashes out early n often there is a surprise team or two

Re: Euro 2024
With the in form Leverkusen as well as Bayern n Dortmund making the CL semis, surely there will be quite many in form players for the upcoming Euro. Any German fans here? Whats ur take on the lineup will be? Not that long ago nobody rated them for yrs, but suddenly the recent friendlies n the clubs form has changed things completely n bookies have them 3rd favs...

Re: Euro 2024
Germany went through the worst part of their transition to this current gen finally. There are new hopes now that are starting to deliver for now but we'll still have to see if theyre for real. Wirtz, Musiala, and Havertz are new hopes Im talking about. Surprised they left out Gnarby is he injured?

Re: Euro 2024
Germany all of a sudden among the favs now with the bookies even... what a quick change, mainly led by Leverkusen players?
Gnabrys career has been plagued by constant injuries, n hes out for this tourny looks like with Hamstring again... doesnt look good if he cannot shake them off in the future...
Germanys ever problem for yrs now has been their weak no.9 position... can Havertz change that?

Re: Euro 2024
Still not much attention on the Euros?
England seem to have selected a lot of kids, the squad n talent looks front heavy n relatively weaker towards the back? Again theres hype n some think they are favs.
For me on paper France still should be favs but they havent looked good in a while. Germany improving but would it be too good to be true if they come back to win it after last few tournaments disasters?
The rest dont really look good enough to challenge, but who knows, time for a dark horse win?

Re: Euro 2024
Southgate is going to mess this up, isn't he.
The next few tournaments are golden opportunities for England.
Also what is up with Belgium dropping Courtois? If he can do a CL final surely he's fit enough.

Re: Euro 2024
Belgium didn't drop him, Courtois dropped himself. In the previous round of call ups he walked out of the training camp because De Bruyne was chosen as a captain instead of him.
He could have still come back for the euros but he ruled himself out.
There is always drama with the golden generation of Belgium.

Re: Euro 2024
Barella's fitness is Italy's latest headache after Berardi, Tonali, Zaniolo, and Tonali all ruled out for various reasons.
If Barella doesn't come back we have no chance imo. Hopefully he only misses Albania at most. Last euros we had the same situation with Verratti coming back during the tournament and he was crucial for the win. Barella has the same impact.

There’s two sides to that story! Both coach and Courtois are saying the other one is lying. Who knows what is correct version? But it is what it you said drama with Belgium especially after Martinez left. This drama within team reminds me of the dutch 20 years ago with all the Surinamese divisions!

Re: Euro 2024
Courtois himself said that he snapped after Lukaku was named captain in De Bruyne's absence for one game, and he for the next, apparently that is an insult to him lol. With that attitude there is any way no reason to be part of the squad.
It was all over belgian news, there was very little expectation that he would come back for the euros.

Re: Euro 2024
Also what is up with the English press?
Reading some headlines they are absolutely ripping into guys like Saka, Rice, Mainoo... After the Iceland loss.
GTFO, they are kids, all this putting the weight of the world on their shoulders is insane.

Re: Euro 2024
So can it be concluded that Eng once again has been over hyped? I know Bellingham didnt play etc...but still, freakin Iceland again XD
That midfield looks very average, although I havent watched those young midfielders much.

I don't think they're overhyped, rather undermanaged.
That squad is probably the best in the world right now.
