Re: Premier League 2023/24
there is a sickness and rot within the club, not even ETH related....I've seen it so often in the last 5-6 years...we have a good result and then collapse the next game, time and time again, no consistency with performances

Re: Premier League 2023/24
Still pretty good for Utd to be in 6th place with a -3 goal difference. But the eye-test for this team is failed miserably, players look like they're moving in quicksand for a lot of the goals

LOL... when is the last time Man U spanked at Old Trafford 0-3? Also Bourne hit the post n had a goal disallowed for what at the end?
No worries though, prolly will win the next couple of games n things calm again so that Ten Hag will continue to stay on >

Re: Premier League 2023/24
A bit of an odd match between Villa and Arsenal. Ødegaard was uncharacteristically wasteful in possession of the ball, Raya and Havertz were probably Arsenal's two most solid performers.
I do think these recent results are good for the competitive level of the league, though. The top spots are becoming harder to predict, although I imagine Man City will claw their way back to the top 2 eventually.

Re: Premier League 2023/24
don't know what to make of last night's game... knew Villa wouldn't be able to repeat their energy from Man City, so really all we needed to do was move the ball faster than we did, but for some reason we couldn't
we looked reasonably in control except for on the ball and except for the goal which i thought Gabriel and White could use some blame for, and like Timothy said, Havertz was probably our best player
if anything it probably shows our lack of genuine killer instinct when it matters in these situations because Villa was very much there for the taking yesterday, we probably bought too much into their impressive home record and walked into that stadium with a mental block

Does Gabriel Jesus cut it?
Seems like Arsenal maybe lack a killer upfront.

Re: Premier League 2023/24
Villa-Arsenal was just poor by Arsenal. Why I am not convinced they will win the title because when the pressure is on they wilt. Which usually means they will overthink every pass and rush it forward as if they crammed for college. Yes they did just score a late Rice goal against Luton but exception proves the rule and there is just no killer instinct within the team.
Kai indeed was their best player and turns on the afterburners in clutch time each time whereas Saka, Jesus and company just wilt under pressure.
Beautiful by Villa as the stadium atmosphere was just likely too overwhelming in such moments for Arsenal and yes it is obvious City will claw back but we can enjoy this time for sure.

sometimes i love him for all his off-ball activity, and his link up play, and how he create something out of nothing on his own... but yea even he himself admitted he isn't the most ruthless striker...
so yea, i don't know when Edu and Arteta will prioritise a top class finisher, and who that finisher will be

GJ is great. Great football IQ, constant micro-movements to anticipate the ball and moves to the right places to invite players to better positions and does the work others simply dont.

Liverpool's "mentality monsters" gimmick admittedly does make me worried if the conversation is "Liverpool vs Arsenal", especially at Anfield... but i feel like they have too many away games like they did yesterday, where they are barely any good, and definitely do not deserve to win, and i feel like there will be a few away games where luck won't go their way
Ultimately, Liverpool and Arsenal's title chances mainly depend on whether City can or cannot go on their usual charge post-January
And like Arq said before, their attack is too over-reliant on Salah... i like Diaz and Jota, but they have never replaced prime Mane and Firmino's productivity

Re: Premier League 2023/24
Just like City can turn it up a notch, so can Liverpool. Right now they are scraping these wins but they will definitely hit an upturn in form. They've only lost one game so far this season which is impressive given how poor they've been. I think when they finally shore up that defence they might go on a run of games where they'll blow past their opposition.
GJ is a really nifty player but I don't think he is a starting level striker. Sort of like Alvarez for City. Both have their qualities but you can't rely on them to lead the line. I'd take GJ as a backup in a heartbeat

Re: Premier League 2023/24
Im the only cynic on LFC here at the moment I would assume.
Our points dont reflect our place on the table despite the fresh blood added. Klopp's time isn't over but its been a shaky change of cycle and its been disheartening to watch.

Re: Premier League 2023/24
Luton is a team i really feel for this week.
Edwards is manager I rate given he makes well with the squad he has at his disposal which is a poor one, really.
Their week reflects the direct opposite of Villa in a sense. The latter won two convincing wins against City & Arsenal whereas Luton lost both leads against the same teams and it was a shame to see how devastated their manager was during both times.
