on paper they never had the chance to be as good as MSN. In the MSN trio all three of them complemented each other and had defined roles.

While in this trio Mbappe doesn't have the technical guile and smarts to play up top, he's pretty much a pace and inshallah merchant that has good enough skill to pull off dribbles and a good level of finishing from the left side of attack. Therefore this leaves Neymar in no man's land because Neymar isn't a pure 9, he has always been more of a supporting striker that drifts around like a 10. But of course Messi is too old now that there really is no other position for Messi to occupy but those deep-lying 10 positions to initiate the attacks because he is by far the best passer and highest IQ player in that team. So yea, these are the biggest reasons that this trio has always been fated to fail.

In an ideal world it would only have worked if Messi was younger so that he could play more on the right side like his younger days with Eto'o and Henry, and Neymar was less of a diva and had prime Griezmann work rate.

Sports, I think you are forgetting his new contract came into effect this summer. I believe it was for 5 years and some ridiculous salary, as per the norm for the oil state.

No way Neymar departs unless someone will match that salary regardless how many feuds he has with Mbappe, coach, owners. Just the way, no one gets to depart PSG easily, these long term high salary contracts will make it all but impossible to kick them out, short of buying out the contract!

And Neymar professionalism reputation is well known so no-one will bite with that salary.

But but …. Paris or rather Oil State is stuck with Neymar for next 5 years, as per the new contract that went into effect this summer.

Unless paying off a 5 year contract is feasible to them? I believe it is 35M a year, so a buyout is 175M. I know most, if not all would say no way, but the way the oil state splashes money, who knows in this case.

As to the alternative, can you see City or Chelsea paying an unprofessional talent 35M a year. I list only them as I don’t see anyone else as likely candidates, perhaps ManU. But i doubt any of them!

That's incomplete and short sighted.

The issue is and has been Neymar's lack of professionalism. In short, Mbappe does not trust and won't "hand" over anything until Neymar rebuilds the trust and shows that he's reliable. That's the issue.

In contrast, he had no problems handing over PKs to Benzema when he returned to NT because he deems Benzema as trustable and earned it... not to mention he feels Benzema is the best player in the world.

If Messi asked to take a PK, Mbappe would let him without an issue.

Neymar... no. Absolutely feels that he's the reason that PSG became a party club.

Leave it to PSG to turn a once humble, hard-working player into an insufferable, toxic little shit.

Benzema, when he saw that Rodrygo had already two goals to his name against Manchester City in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final, he offered him to take the penalty to make it a hattrick. In a mighty CL semi-final.

Then you have this little shit, throwing tantrums over a penalty against freaking Montpellier in freaking Ligue I Uber Eats, after missing the first one with PSG already having the game in the bag.

A bit disappointing from the supposed leader of the team. His status will establish as new players arrive at the club, surely he could not expect his current teammates, some of them since 5 years, or legends like Messi or Ramos, to suddenly bow down before him

Anyways Neymar is pouring oil into the fire by liking negative facebook posts about Mbappé. They both seem very difficult to manage and while Neymar is a lost case i think Mbappé could become likeable again in the future, maybe just going through a power trip phase.

So the cr model? That what it seems like tbh, anyway I feel mbappe stayed at psg, cause rm won the CL while knocking out psg can't come rm wanting to be second coming of cr all over again, can't over rule benzema or vini, so now he has force himself to work with neymar and why does he needs so much power anyway, your just asking to get side eyes look from teammates when management does anything.

Mbappe could care less if you like him or not... he just wants to win.  And he doesn't want to take the easy path to winning either.  His vision is to create his own unique legend.  That's why he stayed at PSG.  He's 23.  He can create a unique legend at PSG and, success or failure, decide his next path at the age of 26 right as he enters his prime years.

He's from Paris, his father is a youth educator in the Paris area, his childhood club is PSG.  Is it so hard to understand?  The club he's passionate about is PSG and always has been. He's French lol.

I have no complaints with regards to Neymar's professionalism during his spell at Barca, it must be PSG's fault that they yield too much power to individual players and even still this should be sorted out by the manager/sporting directors and not for Mbappe to decide

Mbappe has had a carefully guided career until the recon stumbles. Saying he doesn’t care to be liked or not, could not be further from the truth. He does. He just went on a power trip at PSG and it’s kind of disappointing to see. He is playing with guys that now dislike him because he went to get power from the team owner instead of taking it on the pitch, with the respect of his mates.

If you have to go around telling your teammates you're that guy, then you really aren't that guy.

He's the centerpiece of the club, Messi and Neymar are not.  So either they get on board or they will be kicked aside.

According to pundits, Neymar was told in no uncertain terms who the PK and set piece taker is.  Until either Mbappe does really poorly at them or he decides to give some to his teammates (which he always has), it's his.

Way it should be.  Messi took all the PKs in Barca and he was not the best taker (never rated him as a pk taker tbh).

And this is not Neymar's first... he threw a hissy fit when Cavani wanted to take PKs and Cavani is an excellent PK taker and was PSG's all time scorer.  Neymar is as two-faced and egotistical as it gets.  Mbappe is not going to back down to him... and why should he.  If Messi asked, completely different. But Messi is not Neymar; he's a gentleman. So he wouldn't do it publicly and right after Mbappe missed one. He'd find the right time.
