Re: Jude Bellingham Watch
The Ballon d'Or narrative was premature and a bit silly from Madrid fans and media. Since Jude's chances have all but died these past few weeks, they just hopped back on the Vinicius train now that he seems like he has the best case
Reminds me of when Chelsea fans lobbied hard for months for Kanté to win the BO only to ditch him unceremoniously after Jorginho won the Euros with Italy.

Re: Jude Bellingham Watch
One goal in the final and Jude is slam dunk for the award.
Would not be undeserved either.
It is a fact his role is different now and he is practically dead physically but still gives the effort. He's barely 20 ffs. He doesn't cry but goes there and plays 110%.
When it's the Barca kids and they get injured for half the season it is a different story cause they are overworked.
I truly hope Bellingham wins it. His attitude, work rate, quality and the fact he came from Bundesliga to the greatest club in the world and took over is astonoshing to me.

Re: Jude Bellingham Watch
Yeah, we tend to have a clear candidate everyone in the club lobbies for now it's 2. Will probably be neither now lol
It's usually clear who we lobby for. This season like @farfan says we haven't had a clear candidate to lobby for. I think the idea was for Vini to be that guy after the hype and him getting the n7 jersey then he got injured and Bellingham carried us on his mighty shoulders. Now we are where we envisioned we'd be before the season started but you still can't forget Bellingham's heroics for many months while nobody else could score. At the very least he should be in the top 3. The fact that Vini continuesly finds himself lower in the chart tells me this guy isn't liked and will probably end up like Suarez. The good thing is our players are not obsessed with individual awards and only want a greater legacy trophy wise than our legends so in the end who cares.
And Carlo has repeated many many times that this team have no egos. Probably a subtle message to Mbappe

It entirely depends on England and Brazil now as these awards favor NT performances mostly.

Sure maybe... but would much prefer to see France win the NT as favs since England are bottlers n Brazil arent even in the Euros, so Mbappe wins his first Ballon D'or b4 joining Real, n then continue to win them after he joins

It just went back to what it used to be pre-Messi/Ronaldo
We're back to the era where someone of Owen's caliber can win the BO after winning a treble of minor trophies.

Basically, where journalists/voters actually have to watch more games than just Madrid/Barcelona.

What is GL’s honest thoughts on him as a footballer? Try to avoid agendas and club biases.
I have my own opinion. Curious to see what you guys think.

What is your boy Foden then? Because I genuinely didn't notice he was playing until he was subbed off. System merchant.

Re: Jude Bellingham Watch
From what I've seen of him, he's certainly not a CAM who's going to dominate the final third because of his creativity, dribbling, pace, agility, presence or pure technical skills. He's good at shielding the ball, intelligent and can occasionally get past players (reminds me of Zidane when he does), but predominantly a clutch goalscorer. Remains to be seen how he does in a deeper role next year with Kroos gone.

Even I rate high him very highly... but definitely flopped for this Euro... commentators kept saying his good work defensively... lol... perhaps its possible he will flop with Real alongside Mbappe?

Re: Jude Bellingham Watch
Is Modric a flop because he doesn't score too? Bellingham doesn't need to score to have a great game. He played very well against Spain but was let down by a group of players not on his level. He'll be excellent with Vini and Mbappe in front of him

Re: Jude Bellingham Watch
Flopped?
Scored 2 very important goals and did massive defensive work every game.
I think flopped isn't even in the ballpark, he did pretty well for anyone with eyes.

Re: Jude Bellingham Watch
The native one keeps saying various players flopped because if they don’t score or dribble well, he views that as failure! I think he has no idea of other aspects of the game.
Bellingham is a complete player. But him scoring so many goals in the first part of season when he was essentially playing as a false 9, led some people to assume he was a 10 or a goal scorer. (We do have such a player, his name is Güler). Bellingham isn’t a Kroos replacement either. He more of a Modric replacement. He is excellent at keeping the ball, showing up at the right time in the right place, and with his size he has a large reach and covers a lot of territory. The other factor and we saw this with Rodri is burn out from a long intense season. Both these players are essential to their teams, but they need to be rested more.

I really do think that is a big factor that applies to many players, and I think it's been quite noticeable in the euros this year. I've seen people on the internet suggest that fatigue/burn out is just an excuse and that football players should be able to handle whatever's thrown at them because it's their job to play football or because they make a lot of money.
Some players definitely over-exert themselves more than others over the course of a long, league season. The younger ones typically want to play as much as possible, regardless of how tired they may be. And that's especially true when it comes to international tournaments. Fatigue will obviously affect their performance level.
