We've dropped levels so much that even our transfer targets are now this level? Adama Traoré of Wolves, just looked up wiki his game-goals ratio is 123-8 as a winger? Dear god...

Aubameyang is actually 32, wow, how time flies. Anyway, im not sure but he looks past his best, so it feels a bit like another old past it free player we got in, but still glad we did. But not even sure if he can play in Europa League for us? Also hes been played as a winger in the latter days at Arsenal, so all of a sudden we are loaded with wingers Razz Even if Dembele is frozen out... generally I like Auba as a player n if he can get back to some of his best form hes better than anything we got up front but just not sure if hes past it or not... Anyway, and so our team will likely look like:

Ferran Auba/Depay Adama
Gavi/Nico Busquets Frankie
Alba Pique Araujo Alves/Dest

Lol 😂

That’s fair, I would have done same thing to you if it had been 5 minutes longer!

This just means we get to beat them again in next year’s super cup final!

And meanwhile we’ll see how Barca do in confederation cup!

I think so. He might have fallen out of favor with some people but generally, yes

He has returned to doing shows, his podcast and being a guest on other podcasts.

Adama doing what I said he would. Both goals came from him just hugging the touchline beating this fullback 1v1. If he plays a simple role like that he can be a very successful signing.

He went in studs up from behind the back. It's not a foul due to the fact it happened after the offside call but it's a definite red card.

Most important victory for Barca this season.

Their positional play looked much improved and they coped with going down to 10 men really well.

Barca's rotations on the left weren't always clean but FDJ's usage was much more similar to his Ajax days.

He drops deep next to the DM while the LB plays high up the pitch. Good performance from him today. That's how he should be used not as a false 10 lmfao.

Precisely Cas. People who think Adama is a pure bodybuilder are completely off the mark. He’s a very technical player with fantastic dribbling and crossing. His shooting is extremely poor and he doesn’t play with his back to goal well. But again, he also played in a (very) poor wolves side and was tasked to drive the ball from the defense to the attack, and contribute in goals and assists. That’s a tough ask for anyone.

I’m not saying he’s the second coming of messi. But he is a much better footballer then some give him credit for.

Yup. I mean the issues he had at Wolves were that he looked awkward in between the lines and couldn't play back to goal very well. His finishing wasn't good either. Like you said his role was different. He was in a narrow front 3 in a 3-4-3 and tasked with starting counters.

At Barca it's different. Xavi's implemented rigid positional play like Pep does. So Adama isn't going to often find himself in central spaces where he'll be shooting or receiving between the lines. He's going to hug the touchline and be tasked to take on defenders 1v1 and put crosses in. Those are his strengths.

His associative play isn't bad either. He can start counters by dribbling past 2-3 players. He's also good at putting his body between the ball and the fairy La Liga fullbacks will struggle to deal with that. If you're pressing high up the pitch he's very useful when it comes to 50/50 challenges and loose balls because of his strength.

Like you said obviously not the second coming of Messi. However he's the kind of player Barca needs. Xavi is going to play him in a simple role that will utilize his strengths. Still early days but he can be a successful signing as a system player. With Alves playing as an inside fullback they need a right footed player who can drive to the byline.

I get that, but the whole event shouldn't have happened because the ref waited to blow for an obvious offside. O don't feel like any event should count at that point.

Definitely a red card offense in regular play.

What a match from our POV, Atletico are really poor though n their problems continue, I think its like their 4th loss in a row now.

Firstly of cos is DANI ALVEESSSSSS Very Happy What an absolute legend in football. Love that posture enjoying the crowd after the goal celebrations Very Happy He was MOTM b4 that red card, who does that at age 38? Very Happy Although nowadays its clearly many footballers stay fit quite a lot more as they age compared with the past, many players still cruising in their mid 30s n beyond, great to see. Must be the new healthy diets whereas in the past they are famous to be on booze n drugs too much? Razz That tackle was reckless but it wasnt intentional, but it seems he did lose it for a split second, dunno why... but often players at the very top have a temper to them.

In the end Alba gets MOTM, and WHAT A GOAL!! Best of his career. As Cas said Frankie playing well n showing how versatile he is. Adama n Auba looking good. Just feels so much better now... at the start Ateltico got their goal so easily I was worried. Still this doesnt mean we are all that improved in one game vs a poor state Atletico, we still got many issues, but a very enjoyable game havent had that in sooo long Very Happy

I could be extremely wrong but that would probably go down as an off the ball incident.
