Re: Juventus summer 2020 special - now summer 2023
Corriere reporting Pirlol could go for a 343 to which of course would have Dzeko drop behind CR & Dybala as a Treuquartista in attack.
Unlikely but most need to get Dzeko's creative abilities and to lead the line are huge hence why it's unwise to just follow his goal tally and more the influence he causes on field as a whole.

He was a beast for the few games he played here. Sold at Everton for a high price at 20 years old, he screwed up, but i am not too worried for him. Will become a deluxe Lukaku.
Maybe i exaggerate to swap for Ramsey. Bernardeschi + cash would be smarter so we can spend our money on 1 top CM instead of 2 lesser
Lukaku at 20 scored 16 goals in 33 appearances
Kean has two goals from 30 appearances with Everton
I'm not sure what you mean by deluxe Lukaku but he's not even half the talent Lukaku is at the same age. He's neither physically gifted like the Belgian nor technically gifted like Balotelli (his supposed idol). He had a good 3-4 month run with us just like many other young Italian players showing 'promise' who have come and gone by.
I'm bad at predictions but I won't be one bit surprised if 5-6 years down the lane, he'd be playing for Lecce or some similar level club.

Also just saw this in twitter
Make of it what you will
It's from a reliable journalist. Not the usual nonsense you read from Tuttosport

If Juventus will sell Ramsey after just one season, they will lose the tax benefits that had led to the reduction in income tax from 45% to 25%. Another variable to consider in this strange transfer market session. @tuttosport pic.twitter.com/Y7OXZfDlVp

https://www.juventus.com/en/news/articles/welcome-weston
Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that an agreement with FC GelsenkirchenSchalke 04 e.V. for the temporary acquisition, until 30 June 2021, of the registration rights of the player Weston McKennie has been finalized for a consideration of € 4,5 million.
The agreement further entails:
-The obligation for Juventus to definitely acquire the player’s registrations rights, subject to the achievement of certain given sportive objectives by the end of the 2020/2021 season;
-The right for Juventus to definitively acquire the player’s registration rights in case these given objectives are not achieved.
In both cases, the agreed consideration for the definitive acquisition is € 18,5 million, payable in three years, which might be increased up to a maximum of € 7 milion upon achievement of further sportive performance objectives over the duration of the employment contract with the player.
Apparently, one objective that triggers the obligation is Juve qualifying for CL lol.
Also, are Juve's transfer announcements always this detailed?

Gives us a rare and welcome opportunity to check the accuracy of news reports, and on the whole, one must say they've been very accurate.
Loan fee is exactly in the middle of the reported 3m and 6m, buy option fee was correct, bonus sums in BILD were correct, the only thing that's still somewhat unclear is what exactly the 'objectives' are. CL quali seems a bit easy, but we'll know when he plays less than 60% league games and Juve still buy him.
Then again, if other clubs aren't as transparent in terms of giving out info obviously surrounding news reports might be more poorly informed and thus less accurate.

Re: Juventus summer 2020 special - now summer 2023
Something slightly related, with Marotta (and other staff?) the transfer activity of Juve was very much reliably reported in the media. Through (intentional?) leaks or what not.
Since the change in directive few deals have been advertised in the media as detailed as before. No one was calling this McKennie deal until it was imminent for example. Kulusevski was at Inter until basically the last moment. De Ligt accelerated from nothing to confirmed very quickly. Etc.

Yeah, it all comes down to the quality and good faith of sources and briefings, and the reporters willingness to qualify them.
For example, so much delusional stuff is reported about Manchester United because their CEO briefs the press with his own kool-aid drenched wishful thinking and then the briefed reporters just all write the same article with the phrase "it is understood that.."

I wouldn't exactly call Dzeko a TQ, but he does have a passing ability in the final third that is quite underrated. It's mostly for linking up, but every so often he'll thread a pass that is truly top quality.

Agreed nor am I calling him either as the post is based on reports more so.
Beyond that Dzeko since his Wolfsburg days has been very creative. Where it was underused was in City where he was used as a targetman, shamefully.
His trajectory reminds me of Zlatan post 1st season in Milan, where he focused less on the physical aspect of the game and created far more for his fellow attackers. His ability and his final pass is world class.

Your thoughts on the transfer?
Suarez is old though. Though he remained important and clutch for Barça in the past 2 seasons too he has lost a step and is not the explosive player he once was. If he can be evolved more creatively that may be useful.
Then again we are yet to know Pirlo's effect on players and of that age to redevelop them.

I believe he would contribute more than Higuain. He should be a good player to have.
It seems to be Dzeko vs Suarez at this point.
I have liked Dzeko and wanted him at Juve since Wolfsburg. Like him as a player and as a man. As opposed to Suarez who I find so unlikeable. No denying that Suarez is a beast though, so he is welcome.
Both are improvements over 2020 Higuain and are coming free or almost free.

I think Dzeko is a better fit for what we seem to be wanting- a strong 9, who can play back to goal and link up with Ronaldo/Dybala.
Suarez is surely a better player though.
I’m okay with either. I’ve always been a Suarez fan.

I agree, I think Dzeko's profile is the better fit even if Suarez offers more goals.

Suarez in 2020 is truly abysmal. If Juve wants to win the CL, they shouldn’t be accepting rejects from a team that themselves gets embarrassed in the CL year after year.

I'd prefer Dzeko as well if given the choice between the two but the financials involving Dzeko don't seem two appealing as Roma want a transfer fee in the region of 12-15M apparently and Dzeko's gross wages will almost be the same as what Suarez has reportedly has agreed with us (as a result of the tax break) so I suppose in that regard, signing Suarez would be better from a financial perspective.
I'm okay with both though.

Yeah, both are short term and relatively inexpensive (transfer fee-wise).
We have a big squad right now though, it really needs to be trimmed down
More discussion about Locatelli recently. I could see him joining in the midfield - not sure if that’s enough but I’m okay with dropping Khedira for Locatelli

It seems that Sassuolo want to keep Locatelli and are asking too much money

He just got his first call up to the NT too.
De Zerbi publicly spoke to the club that he wants to continue building something with this team and that he wants the players (Berardi, Boga, Locatelli) to stay.
Carnevali just recently said that they will try to keep them barring any special situations.

We are doomed if we can't even negociate with Sassuolo anymore. In fact i have big concerns why another midfielder is not already signed, and why we've barely started to clean the squad except Matuidi
Bring in Suarez is putting priority at the wrong place. We already had agreement with Dzeko apparently, why not sign him and immediately pass on to more crucial positions to improve

Dzeko’s move was blocked by Roma-Napoli (Milik).
Not overpaying for Locatelli isn’t necessarily a bad move.
Exits will come, most likely Khedira and Higuain are out for free. More will follow.
Let’s see how this goes. Nothing to panic over yet
