Re: The 20/21 Season
We haven't faced any decent teams and struggle to create anything.
Its only going to get harder, cant see us winning any games, no hunger or desire, too many below average players who wouldn't start in any other teams.
No manager can fix this Arsenal Squad. Rob Holding should not be starting games for Arsenal let alone be the Captain.

Re: The 20/21 Season
We also now have the problem of actually brining in good players. Why would anyone currently want to go the the Emeriates and fight against relegation.
It is not just Artetta and the team either. We need an overhaul of the entire club.

There is no such thing as an overhaul of the entire club. You need a new manager.

Re: The 20/21 Season
What will a new manager do or bring? we need at least 6 new players. No leaders no discipline, new manager will have same issues.
Let Arteta finish the season, even though our real season finished in November.
Willian, Pepe, Luiz, Holding, Mustafi, Xhaka, Bellerin all need to go.

Re: The 20/21 Season
The system Arteta plays is too reliant on players being world class in that position thats the system Pep is reliant on. Remember what happened with city's defence when kompany left, than again when Laporte was injured. The goals dried when sterling was out of form and Aguero was injured.
The problem is the system as it requires Xhaka, ceballos and Elneny to create and provide defence spliting passes. It requires Nketiah to beat two players and take a shot a top corner. It requires our winger to take on players beat them and provide a cross (Saka at Southampton provided it and we scored). Arteta is rigid in the sense that he is expecting players to do that when they surely cant.
Our squad is more than good enough. Counting man on man its better than Southampton and Everton who both are lurking near the top.

Just need to add the cheep imitation of Ozil, Saka in, along with AMN and Nketiah that should be nothing more than occasional substitutes if that.
I would still sack Artetta though, I do not even see the players trying to play for him anymore. His formations and tactics have made he few good players we have look like championship players. If it weren't for covid I can only imagine what the Emirates would be like these days. Absolute worst manager.

I have no fucking clue where this narrative comes from that Arteta's 'system' has anything to do with Pep's 'system'.
Well that's not true, of course it comes from Arteta working as Pep's assistant for a couple of years, but I have no clue whhy it is being kept up and retold.
He's not like Pep, he's not setting the team up like Pep, the team is not playing like a team coached by Pep would play, and why would they? Arteta has hired assistants to David Moyes and Louis van Gaal as his coaches.
This nonsense narrative needs to stop, and I'm not even going to get into the argument whether Pep's football needs only 'world class' players to work, which it absolutely doesn't. Everything about this point is wrong.
Moreover, you have loads of top class players. What you don't have, is a top class coaching team. End of. OUT.
And get rid of fucking Mertesacker while you're at it. What is he doing there? How come he is allowed to make decisions at the club? Just because he gives off a "roll the sleeves up, honest work" vibe? Because he used London slang words in his German English? He's not qualified for any of this.

Re: The 20/21 Season
People seem to forget that Arsenal were doing really well till this season. There was optimism and results backed it.
I say give him till the end of this season. No chance of us getting relegated.
But while I want to give him a chance, its worrying that he and his staff haven't addressed obvious issues in their lineups. Its sad that Willian hasn't worked out, but to keep putting him in the starting lineup is just pure stupidity. The team's insistence and jarring repetition of going down the wings (mainly the left wing), no one occupying middle of opponents half, the front line being so static helps the opposition settle in comfortably while we fuck around down the left wing is just... sad.
Also, Arteta NEEDS to stop putting Eddie in the starting lineup. He offers nothing other than finishing. Intellectually and physically, Nketiah is seriously lacking.

Re: The 20/21 Season
We all know if Arteta speaks broken English, he would be long gone by now. During Emery's worst period, Arsenal was playing better than whatever it's shown right now.
To me Arteta is greatest snake oil salesman ever, he has ability to convince the owner, the stingy board, big portion of the fans including me to fully back him all the way until like week or two ago. I then watched all the losses again and it's not bad luck, it's not the ref, it's not lack of personnel, it's the dogshit football that got us lost. Every single stats, eye test would shown that yet somehow he's still here. What's his style? I honestly don't know.
People said he's new so he has to learn, he hasn't shown any learning over the course of last 8 games, what he's shown is his stubbornness, something he hasn't earnt like other veteran managers. All Arteta talk pre or post games now are of a panicking clueless manager whose words losing weight day by day.
I dread match day now cause it's all the same and I'm sure he will say the same things until we're bottom of the table.

Re: The 20/21 Season
Playing 2 guys already have one foot out of the door in Mustafi/ Kola but left out Saliba and Mari who signed long term contracts and seen as future of the club, there is no rhythm or reason to what this mad man is doing and his post game interview once again is hilarious.

Re: The 20/21 Season
I slept last night!!
I dont know but I am thinking we should have let Ozil, Mustafi, Sokratis, kolasinac et al go for good by paying them their yearly wages. Atleast we would have seen younger players get some game time and bit better dressing room environment.
After Watching the highlights one thing that struck me was the reaction of Willock after he got hit by the ball by ceballos and possession changed hands which lead to the third city goal. Laca who was beyond him started sprinting to chase the ball but Willock did not even run. If thats tolerated by the coach then our state of football is absolutely understandable.

We could use a player like Saul right about now.

Re: The 20/21 Season
Out of context here (until you consider ambition) but PSG has sacked Tuchel after his team scored almost 20% of our total goals tally in a single match.

Two good moments wrapped around mediocrity. Should have been three if anyone would have taught Smith Rowe to actually kick a ball.

Let's enjoy good performances for what they are, otherwise what's the point? Genuinely refreshing to see how ESR moves the ball, Martinelli is exciting, Saka was superb.

Great stuff, very satisfying to get such a win
now get Arteta out, Tuchel in, Jerome Boateng, and on with it.

It's really sad that our world record signing and a Brazil NT veteran were exposed by two kids who can't even legally drink in some countries.
