You already know F10 is going to be a fatal fourway - Vin Diesel vs The Rock vs John Cena vs Jason Statham
You say that like it wouldn't be amazing ffs.

what exactly do you like more about it?
just the story itself, and the fact that it's an original screenplay. Tbh they're two completely different films so i dont get the comparison

Probably Freeza since the cinematography was decent, at least.
Got The Colour From Outer Space and Dr Sleep on my watch list though.
Uncut Gems was good.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Tried watching Terrence Malick's new film A Hidden Life... and brooo this guy lmao, how much longer is he just going to rehash and and redo the same old material in the same form throughout his life.
Perhaps i would have enjoyed it more if the content wasn't WW2. And while we're on that topic, why the hell are filmmakers still taking interest in making films about WW2? Surely they can't be feeling the effects of it still when it happened so long ago now. Or has it just become a gimmick - "ahh, i've become an established filmmaker in Hollywood, my creative juices aren't flowing for original content, so what should i do next - ahh good ol' WW2"
I just feel like there are more contemporary issues filmmakers should be feeling inspired by. And if not, look at younger, hungrier script writers to help you write a nice genre film that will at least be refreshing to audiences.

I’d put my money on my daddy issues being more of a reason I loved it. Doesn’t hurt that it’s one of the most beautiful films in years.
That said. Cinematography alone doesn’t make a good movie. If it did 1917 would be worth watching. Instead it’s like watching a video game played by another dude.

Is there a reason why The Lighthouse isn't released/distributed worldwide? just selected cinemas?
I really wanted to watch it in cinema but it's only showing in London for some reason.

I hate everything surrounding it. The movie itself is bang average. Deakins flexing his muscles is apparently all it takes for a poor director to win his second best directing Oscar.
Meanwhile true masters won’t get one. It’s typical.
Well. It’ll only reflect badly on the academy.
Imagine giving Sam fucking Mendes two Oscars without giving Tarantino a single one. Lol.

Well Oscars have rarely been given to worthy recipients. Just see the winners over the last 10 years.
12 Years A Slave
Birdman
Moonlight
Spotlight
The Hurt Locker
The Shape Of Water
The Artist
The King's Speech
Argo
Green Book
These are their best films of each year in the last decade
Tarantino never winning one. Scorcese only winning 1 in his career. Nolan has made 3-5 incredible films but not winning any for them and doubt he is ever winning one either. Fincher never winning one.
It's all a joke

Waves 5/10
Really confused in many places, lacking a coherent vision, and story is really not that great.
Acting is pretty good though, and the soundtrack is fantastic.

Pretty much my thoughts on Waves and the same rating as well^^
The first half of the movie focusing on the boy and his relationship with his father was good, but then that reached its climax quickly and then the movie had a completely different second half to it

Watched Burning (South Korean) and Shoplifters (Japanese) recently. Instantly updated my best movies of 2018 list because these two are comfortably in the top 3. Was surprised at how good Glenn from Walking Dead is in Burning. The movie really captures the spirit of Murakami stories. Need to see the director's other works.

Co-abusive relationship between two people that aren’t right for each other and should get a restraining order for both sides.
It’s the new case for MRA idiots though. They found the one case where a woman was also at fault and now it’s a huge thing lol.

MRA along with MGTOW (men going their own way) are some of the most bitter and damaged clowns out there who should not be taken seriously.
Shame they are using this to their advantage similar to any ideology jumping on a case that supports their agenda.
But the Depp-Heard thing was always obvious in what that siren was attempting.

I'm familiar with MGTOW but what does MRA stand for?
how can you just say that though without psychological analysis, lots of very extreme feminist ideology has been spewn into the world thinking stream in the past decade, so are you really surprised these groups are forming now

Mens Rights Activists.
There is no need for analysis as all of them have one common byproduct of by they Go Their Own Way.
While I am firm in the fact that Feminists in the third wave and most of them in the 1st world are not to be taken seriously along with SJWs; men are not oppressed either. To cry about rights that we do indeed have in the west or fight for them is absurd given it has never been easier to live the life you want in this day in age. They perform the same thing as radical feminists who make a victim out of themselves from oblivion and victimisation of oneself or a group is just plain weak and pedantic.
And no I'm not surprised the least bit as it is a reactionary ideology and similar to the Alt-Right to which had just a highly impractical ideology and a vastly embarrassing group of followers.
That being said Depp is a victim here more so than Heard given she presented no evidence for her case and is a clear siren.

- Spoiler:
Even the first half was confused though. The relationship with the father was not well fleshed out. It took up half the movie but they had a relatively insignificant amount of scenes together given how long the first half was. There was as much time spent showing the character doing drugs and/or partying as there was shared screen time with father and son. Seriously?
Then the second half they fuckin DROP the kid completely. He gets like two scenes. The parents play a mostly background role except for that great scene between father and daughter. They focus on the sister for the rest of the film even though I hardly knew her name the first half. They told like three four different stories and did each of them pretty badly.
I actually did like the second half more though. The first half was just the boy making dumb choice after dumb choice and you knew every time what he was going to do. So predictable and also unrealistic to me. The second half at least had a discernible thread through it as far as the daughter working through her complicated feelings toward her brother. It also highlighted how the boy's story could have gone if he hasn't been pushed by his father so hard/society.
First half of the film was like 1 or 2/10 for me, second half was not bad 6.5 or 7/10. But the way it was handled overall was poor.
Pretty disappointing. The only reason I didn't leave the theater in the first half was because I went with my friends. That's saying a lot, too, because I've never felt that way about a film

tbh i empathise with them on a lot of the stuff they bring up in regard to how tough the dating scene is for most "average" men today, i see it with my own two eyes around me in my communities.
Not that i have had trouble with getting females to date thus far in my life, my problem is more just an issue of not finding a good match for myself or just not really understanding each other after a while, so because of that i've kind of also adopted a "going my own way" mentality. I'll welcome a loving potential partner in my life if she ever comes along, but for now i'll continue just having fun with those that want to. But yea dating really is kind of a weird thing for people my age these days, not just for men of course, both side of the spectrum - and the rise of 3rd wave feminism has definitely made things more complicated in some ways.
