And that's after I did pay 50 to see Cats (my daughter's choice, much to my chagrin).
oh no

Just back from Little Women
It wasn't as good as Knives Out, but I thought it was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Got choked up a couple times too.

I enjoyed it. Several stronger performances than Marriage Story imo. Although maybe I'm saying this because I watched it in 35mm and Marriage Story on my living room tv.CBarca wrote:Just back from Little Women

Uncut Gems is worth a watch for Julia Fox's booty scene alone. Goddam. Who is she and where did she come from?

OuaTiH won the Golden Globes, best comedy, best male side kick and best screenplay. Hopefully Tarantino will tie Woody with the third screenplay Oscar. Also no love for Netflix yet.

Well yeah. He’s an imbecile who’s incredibly hypocritical. Hard to find a lot of them around. It really was like the worst part of Reddit come to life, and it was wild to watch.
Sacha Baron Cohen had the best joke of the night though. And Will Ferrell’s bit with Brosnan was great.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Ricky Gervais is so based I love it.
Made a mockery of a dying industry and the faces who were silenced told a lot of us more about Hollywood than they'd like to know from his Harvey Weinstein joke to panning celebrities for their recently preachy behaviour paired with double standards and of course how out of touch celebrities are in general. All while holding a pint of beer.
If not for him no one would be talking about the GG awards like they were now.
British humour is just beautiful to be honest.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Everywhere is fucked up. I hate this "Hollywood" is messed up talk that kind of removes responsibility from everywhere else. The shit I've had to deal with in my own life is pretty par for the course.
Also Ricky Gervais berating people for working with companies like Netflix and saying "you're the ones" while he himself mainly works for Netflix. It's kind of genius in an idiotic way. He's somehow fooled a lot of people into thinking he's got some moral high ground in this stuff. Meanwhile his controversy only helps these other companies continue to make money.
People who think Gervais isn't the same as everyone else in the room are kidding themselves lol. He is a giant hypocrite.
Also for someone who doesn't care about that job, he cares so little he returned for the fifth time with the same bits as he always does?
Thought his jokes were kind of off this year. He had a terrible Baby Yoda/Pesci joke.
Thought the Epstein joke was fun mainly for the fact that it's a reddit comment come to life

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Ehh I considered it a performance more than anything. Just another role for him to play.
It was like watching a Comedy Central roast. Except everyone in the room was the target instead of just 1 person. A bunch of jokes and gags to get laughs. I didn't read anymore into it than that.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Its more about Hollywood's holier[than-thou and preachy attitude, but yeah, whatever.
Gervais working with Netflix doesnt make what he says any less accurate. Being terrible is one thing but don't pretend like you're so generous and pure of heart which is what all these fake stars are doing. Literally just accept the award and STFU.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
regarding the Ricky Gervais monologue, do you guys really think the Hollywood press executives and producers just hired Ricky and said go do whatever you want, or don't you think they asked him what he has planned and they looked over what he was going to say and gave him the green light?
when it comes to Hollywood, what interests me more is the people behind the scenes, the ones we never really see and don't know of who run the show and make large-scale decisions. The ones who are in charge of mass media and what we get to see on television screens - and the subliminal or even supraliminal images they sell to us/imprint into our mental streams since birth that aids in managing the masses and in turn power structures, and the Earth system as we know it.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
There is no moral high ground he took it is just a form of comedy as just like the jester is the one allowed to roast the King, he took liberty to roast a ballroom of performers in a rather sinister and dying industry.
For him to remind celebrities of their actual place rather than the recent preachy behaviour and liberalism worn as a medal was correct and to show how out of touch they really are. The glowering faces of some of the ballroom along with how offended some parts of the media were is just embarrassing.
Truth is Golden Globe ratings just like the Oscars to which rightfully have been in decline for years, received the most attention and due to him at most. Otherwise it was another run of the mill award show.

Case in point of what is by far the most Hollywood thing to say above, summed up in one tweet.
I enjoy watching films and good actors/actresses but nobody gives a fuck of who or what they are outside because in the end they are thespians NOT playing themselves.
