Re: Marcus Rashford watch
You’re welcome to raise that coffee cup when Man United aren’t having a comfortable match, counter-attacks aren’t an option, and Rashford wastes simple chances that a better forward would convert without issues

Re: Marcus Rashford watch
Someone put Thimmy on suicide watch when he bangs two against Madrid.
Although one could argue United will have a comfortable match against Madrid.

Re: Marcus Rashford watch
You said it yourself. I wouldn’t be surprised if Maguire scores a couple of headers against us. And that seems to be our game plan!
In Rashford’s case, my point stands. He can be great on counter-attacks, and he’s useful when Man United aren’t being pressured. He’s athletic, faster than most, and he was absolutely clinical tonight. He deserves credit for that, but apart from the goalscoring efficiency, he did what he normally does when Man United are on the frontfoot and can play however they want to.
I don’t recognize him as a performer who’s on a level you’d want to have at a top club as a starter. It’s not neccessarily about consistency, but what he brings to the table against teams that look just as likely to score as Man United are. Needless to say, they could’ve had much worse than him as well, but that isn’t the point.
It might be a controversial argument, but a side that challenges for trophies needs players who, more often than not, are effective, even when their team isn’t comfortably charging towards victory. I don’t recognize that in Rashford.
As much as I think the team and the fans have good reason to be satisfied with his performance against RB Leipzig, I think they should be more thankful that they’ve looked so much in control against assumed stronger or equal teams recently. That includes PSG in the CL, as well as Man City in the league.

To be fair, I think this thread being bumped every time he has a good or bad match would get tiring quick. But he had a very quick hat trick in a UCL game and others mentioned it, so I couldn't resist the coffee bit.

Re: Marcus Rashford watch
I haven't read all of the comments in this 2-page thread, but I get the impression that people only mention him when he's efficient, like in this match. Or decisive, like in the match against PSG, where he was typically inefficient. When he doesn't play well, only Firenze seems to recognize it. Everyone else just goes, "oh well". Ole out

Aston Villa. Everton, etc, material. NOT Manchester United material. Sucks that I know he's destined to be here until he's like 30 though. ffs. Hate the loyalty to local lads who perform every now and then.

Re: Marcus Rashford watch
I think Rashford is a great player and he's had great season. He's had 21 goals and 15 assists. Rashford is, believe it or not, about Son level.
And I think we all knew this, but he'll never be Kane level.
I disagree wholeheartedly with saying he's not Man U material though. Would you take Son at Man U? He's a good player, but he shouldn't be the main man

Rashford is the least of your worries. How old is he again? Looks like hes slightly burnt out tbh, euros coming up wont help either but give him more help and he'll be fine

Re: Marcus Rashford watch
People criticising him are weird as fuck.
His penalty was pretty good, he took his time, sent the keeper the wrong way and was just a little off with the execution and was a bit unlucky.
Saka and Sancho Penalties were low, slow, predictable and very central.
Literally everything wrong with a penalty in one package. Those are the people you blame or Southgate for putting them in that position.
His penalty was way better than the other 2.

Noone to blame but Southgate for all of them. You don't sub in player directly before the penalties. It's nonsense.

Re: Marcus Rashford watch
The blame has to fall totally on that clown manager of yours and not on any of these players. You just dont substitute two young players in the 120th minute in a match of this magnitude and expect them to convert their penalties. Just no. Fucking fuming with Southgate. Way to destroy them. And giving the last penalty to a kid England supporters abusing them online and everywhere else can just piss off.

Re: Marcus Rashford watch
Directing Saka to take the 5th decisive penalty was outright criminal. He is 19 for heavens sake and it was his first official penalty

he's made for poor people more than the English government in 40 years, yes, not just because it's easy to do more than Thatcher
I don't rate him highly as player but he was also unlucky though, Morata had shot a worse penalty I mean

That's completely fair and i agree, also am i imagining this or is Henderson's penalty record really good?
Not that it matters now, what's done is done but yeah it was weird.

Re: Marcus Rashford watch
As for the penalty fiasco........eh. I'd have bet the farm on Rashford scoring. He's at the point in his career where you expect him to step up to pressure. I haven't seen enough of Sancho to gauge his performance under stress and as for Saka......yeesh. You could immediately tell he was going to miss the moment you saw the poor lad step up. He has no business taking the 5th penalty in a final shoot-out

Re: Marcus Rashford watch
I'm hoping Ragnick recognises that he doesn't deserve to start for United on his current performances. I feel like he's become 'undroppable' though..but we need someone with balls like Ragnick supposedly has to do just that. I'd love to flog him for 50M to Arsenal or something in the summer. He's nowhere near as good as the media make him out to be. Lingard is better.
