It auto saves you know. You can just quit the game and it will start where you left off.

Yeah, i just find going through a whole area killing loads of enemies then dieing somewhere else and having to do something you've already done i find to be very frustrating design.
I don't mind dieing, hell i died to the Valkyrie Queen on GoW more times than i can count, but repeating something I've already done isn't fun to me.

Ah i thought so
That's the 'punishing' bit those games are known for.
I think it's different in this one actually. I am sure i read you can resurrect. I'll let you know.

Re: General Games Discussion
I probably would play Bloodborne today if it didn't have it tbh
I love the way it plays, the level design is fantastic but i don't like repeating things like that.
It's not a From exclusive thing either, i dislike it in any game tbh.

Re: General Games Discussion
Guys since I am a semi-retired gamer like RealGunner;
getting back into it since Witcher 3 left me with little wanting to play beyond Red Dead 2 (to which I've yet to go into soon)
Is Bloodbourne better or DS3?
If so given which one should I begin first if I want to start the inferior one and THEN begin the superior game?

Previews on Days Gone are saying exactly what I think of every time I see the game.

Game will live and die by the story and how enjoyable the gameplay systems are IMO.
I think it will be a good game for people who will enjoy it for what it is like me but it won't be for everyone.
Kind of like Detroit Become Human really, that game has it's place for people that enjoy it but it wasn't a widespread success like Horizon, GoW or Spiderman and i suspect this will be the same.

PC games don't count. They are made by 19 year olds living in dungeons for similar type of people.

I don't think anyone believes it will be bad, obviously there's a difference between bad and low 80s review scores which is honestly what i expect.

Low 80s used to be pretty good. Many fantastic games only have critic ratings in the 80-85 range. Nowadays, a lot of people seem to think "90s or no go" I get that people want to be selective and only pay for the very best games, but the standards have definitely changed over the years.

Yea it feels like big studios releasing games that end up being 90+ have changed people's thinking.
How is 8/10 bad lol for example?
not even 70/100 is bad.

Re: General Games Discussion
Well, I think reviewers have gradually inflated the ratings for the most critically acclaimed games, and so the games that aren't quite as polished, look comparatively shit in comparison - if you judge them purely based on critics score.

Yea agreed. A Hyped up studio releasing a hyped up game getting instant 10/10 when they should be 8/10 at best.
No shade.

Re: General Games Discussion
10 years ago i used to play anything 70+
Nowadays, i can't bother. I can relate to RG, being an old time gamer, but i still play 90+, sometimes 80+ games depending if they're good. Oh and anything coop, my friends get i usually get with them.
@Mole btw have you played Prey?

Exactly. I think so, at least. I've played a few games over the last decade that I would personally rate in the 80-90 range, but they all ended up with averages closer to 89-95. I've also noticed a common tendency in negative things about these games being largely, or completely ignored by many "professional critics", opting instead to focus purely on the positives. Reminds me of a certain, Newcastle fan on here But yeah, like you say, no shade.

I don't think this is true BTW. The scores last generation were a lot more inflated than this. Hell if you want to go back further Tony Hawk Pro Skater got a 95
I think inflation did happen at some point but i think this generation on average the scores are much more sensible.
Most of the games that deserve 90+ genuinely deserve it, there are exceptions obviously but for the most part i do believe this is the case.

Yes i have, it's on the long list of those games i play for a few hours, i mention that i like it a lot and then never play it again
I have problems.

Re: General Games Discussion
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was a brand new game and a brand new concept, that paved the way for multiple sequels, spin-offs and other companies attempting to replicate the success Activision had with that franchise. 95 is definitely over the top, but I don't think that game was a typical representation of reviews back then.
