He wants the club to release him from the final year of his contract so he can return to France, but Arsenal had no plans of losing him because he's, like, still their best defender and everything. So now Koscielny has kicked up a stink about not being let go.

It's a shit situation all round. Club captain wants to go and has decided to not even tour with the club to do that, and Arsenal have to re-jig their transfer plans to replace someone they had no plans of letting go in the first place.

Not sure if this available outside the UK, but the BBC have a podcast with David Ornstein and Nick Bright talking with a bunch of Arsenal players. Auba, Mkhi, Bellerin, XHAKA, Chambers and even Pepe.

Bellerin's part is worth a listen. He's an interesting guy. XHAKA's part is interesting, too, because he specifically mentions that the team needs to be more compact without the ball, run back more, talk more, etc.

To give you an idea of how hard a job this is, Southend are 23rd in League 1, with one win in 14 games so far, having shipped 40 goals already. They just lost 7-1 at home to Doncaster, having been down to 9 men for a good 40 minutes. They've been without a manager for at least two months.

The only reason they're not rock bottom is because Bolton had points deducted.

I wish the Sol man well but this is a tough job for anyone, nevermind a rookie manager.

He's being joined by Arsenal's old fitness coach Tony Colbert, too. And Andy Cole, who was an Arsenal youth player.
