Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
This just dropped on US Netflix as well. I'll give it a watch soon. Been hearing great things about it.

BC, dunno how you like your sci-fi horror, but I would recommend Van Helsing on Syfy.
The Sons of Anarchy spinoff Mayans is also very solid.
Comedy-wise, The Good Place continues to be really good.
As far as superhero shows go, The Gifted is probably the best one airing for those of us who are already done with Daredevil.

Watched the Haunting of Hill House and I'd give it a solid 6.5, entertaining but not much more than that

Killing Eve is ancient history, pls
On epi 4 of Bodyguard now, pretty good so far. Have to say the plot keeps surprising me.

Some under the radar ones for you guys to look into. On my end I still need to get up to date with Peaky Blinders and then I'll look into some of these late November - early December when I'm done with exams, providing my internet holds strong.

It does, lays lots of false tracks, or hints at possibilities that don't turn out.
Agree that that was pretty good. But at the ending they messed up IMO. We can discuss it when you're finished

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
The latest Doctor Who episode with the spiders had me cowering under blankets on my couch like a wuss. I could go several lifetimes without ever needing to see spiders that big on a TV show. Thought I had escaped it with Arachnophobia and Eight Legged Freaks....nope.
Had to look at pictures of puppies in capes before going to sleep.

I would agree. I don't want to disrespect Whitaker by comparing her to Tennant, but I really do get those same vibes from her Doctor. She's been great so far. It's getting used to 3 companions that I'm still struggling with.

- Spoiler:
- so what are your complaints about the ending? I won't try to address ploy holes although I'm sure there were plenty (like, why would Nadia admit anything if it's clearly in her best interest to continue playing the duped wife?), but what really got to me was how happy it was. David fixes the case, defuses the bomb, catches the bad guys, re earns the trust and respect of the police, and seemingly manages to get his family back. It was so at odds with the rest of the show that I kind of expected an after the credits scene telling us that he did in fact blow up while trying to defuse the bomb.

Surprising imo, I related to how a director treated someone as shit and left them to find their own way as in junior employee. It was interesting,

Yep. Thought it was a pretty good, very well made, fast paced, and most of all interestingly detailed, realistic political spy thriller. Pretty dark too. I enjoyed it and liked it.

Absolutely freezing take. Find McAggers comments about The Wire much better.
Called it shit and later revealed he’d watched two episodes.

I'll admit am little late to the party. On the same note though, completed both Office UK and US. Absolutely loved the US one. Dwight Shrute is my top 5 fav characters of all time. Next on list is Band of brothers, mad men and the documentary on Mozart, whoever the fuck that is.

The Wire is undoubtedly a GOAT series in the sense of the word. One of the great things is that each season adds another thematic universe, avoiding the feeling of aimlessness that many successful and thus long-running series produce after a while.
But let's not continue talking about this shall we, it's become a running gag long ago
The guy who made it made another, not quite as pointed but really, really gorgeous series about life in New Orleans post Katrina, Treme. I can recommend it very much.
Have to admit I only know The Office UK.
Of course, the uncontested very best of the bunch are the Sopranos, if you haven't seen them yet, and if you have time, watch them first.
You will not regret it.

I enjoy The Last Kingdom a lot more than I expected to. It's refreshing to not have a main character that is much smarter than everyone else and can be pretty daft with regularity.
