Hello Unai, my old friend.

PSG got him to crack Europe and he failed epically in both his seasons. The guy has a cowardly streak that results in advantageous positions being thrown away.

That's the most concerning thing for me. Emery is historically bad in big away games - as are Arsenal, unfortunately. It's not a good match. He used to go into those games playing full backs as wingers and three DMs in midfield.

Still, he's an EL expert... which is useful, all things considered.

Another European with bad English going to London, it's like Brexit was just a dream.

so they got a guy that won the EL 3 times on the spin to crack europe with them then let him leave to hire a man thats won nothing.

Better than a manager that proves time and time again that when it matters he's incredibly negative.

He's one of the most overrated managers out there because he's won some EL's.

Dude couldn't win the title in a one-team league while coaching said one team.

I know Arsenal fans relish a change, but I don't think these kind of appointments are > Wenger tbh.

PSG is basically a free title in Ligue 1 and he got pipped to the title by Monaco the season before and absolutely choked in Europe back to back. Underwhelming appointment, unless you look at the alternative in Arteta, then it becomes a big coup.

At best, he can get you back to the Champions League which should be the objective and then see how it goes from there

the race for a UCL spot in england will be the most interesting race in europe next season tbh.

After weeks of Arteta/Vieira links this is very relieving stuff!

this is bad for Arsenal, Emery is a manager that i like, but i feel like he will be a flop. I dont think he will overcome the language barrier to transmit the same fire and energy that he has inside. I do not see this working well.

Why dint Arsenal go for Pellegrini ? Considering the language barrier that Emery has, i think Pellegrini would've been an even better appointment tbh

I read 5M pounds annually. Maybe its 10M gross which is easily affordable for Arsenal. I cant believe he went to West Ham. Would've been an ideal post Wenger appointment to give them some stability and considering there werent many viable options.

because the fans have a vision of the EPL...
and the vision thats planted in their brains..still remain..
this the time for emery.

If there's one thing I think he'll do well with it's improving the squad tactically. This isn't a team used to analysing the opposition and making special plans for them. Emery loves video sessions and gives his players extra clips to study at home, so it'll probably be refreshing for our players. And as much as I crap on him for some of his decisions, he does make the odd inspired choice.

That said, he always comes off as a nervous wreck to me. From his hyperactive tendencies on the touchline to his bad substitutions whenever a game deviates from how he expected, he always struck me as someone whose first thought is to go safe rather than go bold. It's not very inspiring.

I wanted someone with clear ideas on how he wanted to approach things and Emery isn't that guy. He just doesn't have that philosophy he can fall back on during difficult times. Being adaptable is good, but it also means his teams lack a distinct identity.

Having said that, this is the guy who duped Barca into thinking Aleix Vidal was a right back and turned Iborra into the Spanish Fellaini, so screw it. Can't wait to see Xhaka up front and Iwobi at right back next season.
