Indeed, but we are not talking about Newcastle are we. Arsenal have a much higher standard than we do or at least they should.
He's nowhere near good enough unless he can prove his one good season at Dortmund wasn't a fluke. If i was Arsenal i would have just pursued cash.

There is no Mkhi and cash. It's just Mkhi.
Subtract Mkhi's wages from the club and the Alexis deal will end up costing us less than what you paid in total for Oxlade Chambermaid lmaoooooooooo
Woodward with a masterclass
Unique been having fun running around throwing 150 mil, 200m numbers around, now reality has hit go back to scouting Southampton, Burnley Palace etc for a Salah replacement in the summer.

if sanchez has a strike rate of 1 in 2 that works out to £1million per goal. just let that sink in for a minuteFirenze wrote:Unique wrote:ox took a pay cut to join LiverpoolFirenze wrote:

Re: Alexis Sanchez transfer saga
I think its a pragmatic move by Arsenal. Alexis held most of the cards with his wage demands and obviously being the one to decide where he wanted to play, given that he could just sign for free in 6 months.
Maybe Mkhitaryan will be good too
Great move by United though. Its a ruthless move by Mou and this is one of the best January signings in a long while in terms of a player that can instantly make an impact. Montella doesn't stand a chance in the CL now

Don't think either United or Arsenal are feeling hard done by with the move. Rest of the clubs are talking a lot more about it though

Re: Alexis Sanchez transfer saga
From our perspective, we're getting a player worth £30m plus for someone who would be worth £0 in two week's time. From United's perspective, they're swapping out an under-performing player for a much better player. So it's a good deal for both sides. I think Arsenal have done well to turn the situation into something positive for them in the end.

Re: Alexis Sanchez transfer saga
Stop trying to spin it as if it was a great deal for Arsenal
You sold your best player to a direct rival and a contendor for top 4, and got one of their worst players
You call it decent just because you got a player in return, i call it short sighted and submissive. Arsenal got bullied here, pure and simple, by United, by Mkhi and Mino, and by Sanchez.
He isn't even the same playsttle as Sanchez nor the same position. In fact, his best and original position is occupied by a 30 year old smoker.
Club will be in shambles if Wenger keeps this up. Man has gone mad.

Re: Alexis Sanchez transfer saga
Why should I stop? Football would be miserable if I had your attitude about everything
I'm not going to bother justifying it anymore because Arsenal can't win in this situation.
We keep Alexis for the year and we're dumb for not selling.
We keep him beyond January and we're even dumber for not selling.
We swap him for a player we can use right away and we're short signed and submissive.
We replace him with a younger player and we're not ambitious enough.
We let him go and don't replace him at all and we might as well delete the club.
What do you think Arsenal should do? Not what they should have done, because time has passed and decisions have been made. We had a player on our hands who didn't want to be here, who would have no value to us in two weeks time, and only had one offer on the table.
You can 1) keep him anyway 2) sell outright and look else where or 3) do a swap and save money/wages for another signing.
None of these are ideal for Arsenal, but they have to make the best decision they can in the circumstances. I think there are worse things they could have done, and prefer to be optimistic about the player we're getting.

Re: Alexis Sanchez transfer saga
I don't know why people are so set on having one team as the winner of this deal. It's a profitable deal for both teams which is why it's happening in the first place.
Man Utd get one of the best players in the league, we get a player that was mismanaged and better suits us plus a top class striker to replace his goals.
If we get both Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang, we are a better team than we were with Sanchez. And Man Utd are a better team with Sanchez.
The only losing side here is Dortmund who will probably have to take Giroud as Auba's replacement

It's a great deal for Arsenal. Alexis is at this point a cancer in the dressing room, and has only 6 months of contract left. He's worth nothing.
Mkhitaryan on the other hand was a top target of Arsenal himself only 18 months ago, only they were priced out by Man United.
He was integral in Mourinho's one true success during his Man United time, the EL win (Mkhitaryan basically saved Mourinho's ass with his performances in EL).
He also cost 45m € when having only 12 months of contract left himself.
Now he has 2 1/2 years of contract left and they get him basically for free.

Re: Alexis Sanchez transfer saga
It's a shit deal for both clubs. Only Manchester City wins in this one. Sanchez is a mediocre player and Mickymousetarian, too. Both clubs remain mediocre.
At the same time Mourinho saves City from Guardiola's shitty transfer decision makings.
Buying dressing room cancer Sanchez to, God knows, replacing Agüero or some other bullshit because strikers who regularly score goals are too boring.

Because it's quite obviously a one sided deal.
You just lost one of the best forwards in the league for an utter fraud.
Only people who argue otherwise are those who cling to the hope his one season under Tuchel wasn't an utter fluke and is living off a reputation based off the season.

Re: Alexis Sanchez transfer saga
It's a good reminder that players hold 90% leverage on their clubs. Arsenal tried its best to push back his departure, but he still left and we are now makking fun of him. That applies to Pool with COutinho, Southampton with Van Dijk, etc...
Straight swap Alexis - Miky isnt bad, they could have sold for 35 mil this summer but you dont hardly sign talented attackers for that kind of money nowadays.
I am not saying it's a good deal, but it's alright. Arsenal have also been delusional they would extend him for a long time, they should have sold for prime money and they will lose Ozil to United in the summer for free. United are just embarrassing Arsenal at this point, again...
How much is miki's contract though?

Re: Alexis Sanchez transfer saga
it's not a completely bad deal for Arsenal but it was a hell of a lot better when it was reported there was 20m along with Mkhi. It's possible Mkhi will do well fo them but it's also possible he will flop. He really wasn't mismanaged at United, he had lengthy runs both behind the striker and on the right, Mou tried to accommodate him a few times. Outside of a few clutch goals his overall play wasn't good enough. So yeah, I think we definitely got the best of this deal right now. It's also better than the City deal for Arsenal IMO because Mkhi's market value is probably 30m regardless of how he performs. 30m is like the standard price of a known name even if he's a scrub in this league.

Re: Alexis Sanchez transfer saga
So what went wrong with the 20 mil that we were supposed to get in addition?
As far as I know, the hold up was with Mkhi's agent and not the agreement between the two clubs.

Mkhi is valued at 30m by United considering the market. They are also apparently paying him and the fact we are only offering him 140k p/w means there was no chance we demand anything more.
