Mislintat and Sanllehi are exciting appointments with strong track records. They're being brought in to help the transition from the Wenger era to the post-Wenger era. Whether that happens next summer or a bit after, these seem like clear signs that the Arsenal board (finally) are preparing for the next chapter.

We have a new head of scout, a director of football and new coaches.

The interesting theory going around, and apparently this is the feeling around the club, is that this is actually Wenger's last season. He signed for two years because the uncertainty that a one year deal would have brought would have disastrous effects on the team (as it did last season).

It sounds fanciful because Wenger ALWAYS sees out his contracts, but when you see guys like Mislintat and Sanhelli arrive months in advance, and old stalwarts like Steve Rowley and Dick Law step down in the process, it makes you wonder. Either Wenger has accepted a restructuring behind the scenes (Sanhelli's appointment is significant because Wenger hated the idea of a DoF), or he knows he's calling it a day in the summer and letting the club lay the foundations for the new guy.

Whatever's happening, Mislintat and Sanhelli arriving is big move from the club. We'll have a guy who's excellent at spotting talent and a guy who has a crap tonne of connections and can help us get deals done. This is going to help regardless of whether Wenger is in charge or not. All being well, they'll outlast Wenger at the club.

It really does sound positive. We are acting like a modern club now. But the manager's position still remains the most important one. I somewhat want to see Arsene working together with Mislintat and Sanhelli just to see if he is any different and that does mean him staying for his final year of contract. However if this is his last season, then club really must have a shortlist ready for who they think would take over. I can't see it someone being over 50 because club would like to have a long term plan rather than short term.

I also doubt they would consider former players as none are good enough.

Interesting times ahead.
