Kicker: Arsenal about to poach BVB scout-in-chief Sven Mislintat

What the hell.

That would be one serious signing.

Bayern tried to get him last summer but he wouldn't come to us. Now kicker claims they have reliable info that talks are 'advanced' for Mslintat to move to Arsenal.

His recent position at BVB was some sort of 'technical director' position, having moved up from chief scout. He's the guy behind all the unbelievable transfer coups and talent discoveries of BVB in recent years, the most spectacular signings must be Lewandowski and Dembele.

I wonder what position he would have at Arsenal.

Also this pretty much excludes Thomas Tuchel from becoming Arsenal manager anytime soon

Hope Mislintat is a massive upgrade on rowley. Our scouting has been awful in recent years (not all their fault tho).

It's true though, we already had a fantastic chief scout who was known all around the scouting world in Steve Rowley, so I'm not sure this appointment will change anything. Besides Wenger values StatDNA more than any scouts opinion.

I would be much more excited if we got Tuchel instead, you know making actual change.

I don't think he values either.

He doesn't trust anything which could contradict his own stubborn views - he values what the players say about how they feel, instead of all the advanced satellite based data that we burned money on, for example. That's what lead to more injuries, remember?

Wenger aside, what this move might suggest is that Ivan Gazidis is very gradually changing things behind the scenes. Dick Law is gone, Steve Rowley (top scout in his time, maybe not so good recently) is going, a Sporting Director is coming (guy from Barcelona, his name escapes me atm) and now Mislintant possibly as well. Plus Huss Fahmy (legal expert) and Darren Burgess (fitness expert) both arrived during the summer.

At the moment, it doesn't mean much with Wenger around. But that doesn't mean the pieces can't be put into place in the meantime. And look, if Mislintant comes in and finds some excellent players, even Wenger is going to listen.

If Wenger is willing to buy guys based off stats, he's willing to buy guys based on a supposed expert's opinion.

I dont think Wenger buys based on stats, he buys based on his feeling and trust.

Meanwhile, SportBild says Mislintat's move to Arsenal is fix, while Der Westen (close to BVB) says it's almost fix, with things like transfer fee (yes) still to be sorted.
