Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I'm not so keen on Mhkitaryan as others seem to be. He's a temperamental player at the best of times, will be on big wages and is 29. In two/three years time we'll be looking to replace him as well.
Auba's in the same boat, but at least he brings goals with him.
It'll be good if they do come in, because at least we'll be fine in the short-term. But it feels very short-sighted to sell a 29-year-old and a 28-year-old only then to replace them with two players of the same age.
Tbh I can't see all three arriving in one go unless we're planning on benching Lacazette. In which case, £52m was an awful lot to spend on a bench player.

No agreement in place or close for Mkhitaryan to join Arsenal from Man Utd in Sanchez swap. He holds key & still mulling over #AFC / other clubs / staying #MUFC - if agrees to Arsenal, can happen quickly. Doesn’t see eye to eye with Mourinho but not desperate to go at all costs pic.twitter.com/n95zzQzYdg

Everton close to agreement with Arsenal to sign Theo Walcott for in excess of £20m. #EFC football/financial offer beat rivals. Likely played last #AFC game (397 apps, 108 goals). Money to go towards transfers - Aubameyang/Malcom + Mkhitaryan (Sanchez swap), unlikely to get all 3

Time is against us and with our style of negotiation, it might be the case of too little too late like so many times in the past. The insult will be completed if MU get Sanchez and we get no one in return. I guess this "Dortmund connection" is our one positive thing.

Having Mkhitaryan included in any Alexis deal is bad. He clearly doesn’t want to join, doesn’t really fit in, he has confidence issues, he’ll be on ~£150k p/w, and he’s 29. We’d just be doing United’s dirty work: clearing out players that Mourinho doesn’t like. Just take cash.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Malcom looks really exciting.
Mkhitaryan has shown he's capable of playing really well, and I actually would be optimistic about Wenger's chances to nurture his confidence which is apparently what he needs. In-form Mkhi would be an exciting addition in theory. But his wages are going to be steep if he comes (I'm just thinking about knock-on effects with other players & signings), it sure doesn't seem like he's excited to come to Arsenal, and overall he seems unnecessary with other players on the books and potential incoming guys.
This is kind of a weird-but-fun transfer window though. Which is better than a lot of the action on the pitch.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
should only take him on 6 month loan not perma deal on long(ish) term contract
esp with these rules that limits increase of annual wage bill
rather invest in younger/better players

Mino Raiola's ego is so big that he dubbed this Mkhitarayan's - not Alexis's - transfer. There's no chance he or his client accept a loan move.
And Aubameyang + Malcom or Mkhitaryan replacing Walcott and Alexis is certainly beyond what this fan base could have dreamed of last month.
We'd be insanely fortunate to land Aubameyang, a top 5 striker and one who could directly replace Alexis's output (obviously depends on our ability to create chances for him). But with 2-3 new, exciting attacking players in our team, Alexis's sulky and selfish style of play no longer dragging us down as it has been just this season, we'd be able to make it work.
And I don't get the talk about the fee or his age. 50-60m is peanuts in this market. He's 6 months younger than Alexis whom we'd all like to keep and who relies on pace as part of his game anyway.
