Re: Transfer Rumours V6
Don't think we will miss him much. He was a good keeper, one to rely on, but comitted silly mistakes just like every other GK as well. One of Bravo & ter Stegen had to leave and the choice was obvious in the long run.

The false mantra that we have improved so much our squad and that our rotation players are much better and that this is what what's needed, has gone to the garbagge in just 2 weeks.

Re: Transfer Rumours V6
Rotation and replacing your squad almost entirely is different...
We were missing ter Stegen, Roberto, Alba, Pique, Umtiti, Iniesta, Messi and Suarez (the last 3 for most of the game at least).
So in essence we were missing 70% of our starting eleven.
That's rotation brought to extremes.
Alaves are a team of winners. They just won the second divison and they're used to winning. They don't know that they should be losing these games, yet.
We won't be winning games without Messi just because our bench options are stronger... Messi has always been the key no matter what. And the game that's been lost on Saturday isn't a reason to bash our summer signings. You just like to do it because your judgement is clouded.

Mascherano sucks (always had, but now more), but it can't be Mascherano's fault that Alcacer didn't add anything, Digne was invisible at both ends, Cilessen didn't make a save, or Denis Suarez sucked. And obviously Gomes or Umtiti didn't play.

Re: Transfer Rumours V6
And? The whole team didn't click on the day (absence of Messi and Iniesta more than anything). Does that mean transfers will have no impact in the future? No.
That's all.
That's all.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the transfers have improved the squad but on the same day multi-million man Paul Pogba flopped in possibly the match he had to deliver and for some reason you keep going on about how you should have signed him instead of these scrubs.free_cat wrote:The false mantra that we have improved so much our squad and that our rotation players are much better and that this is what what's needed, has gone to the garbagge in just 2 weeks.

Young, talented striker (Spain international) that is proven in La Liga playing well in a good team, and is bought to bring in a valuable depth and rotation option--that's basically what I've been asking for for a while. Do people really feel comfortable playing Munir against La Liga opposition the week of a CL game to keep the front three rested? He'll do alright but...I'm much more comfortable with Paco.
We can't even talk about money tbh. This market is whack. Paco is the money it requires for a good player like Paco
I would have less of a problem if we had kept Munir, but as it is now I feel like we have made very little progress in addressing the depth issues of that position. MSN are still likely to play 95% of the possible minutes, we only have 1 guy of quality to step up, and at that he's only good at CF. Nonsensical.
I mean, we were forced to play Turan as our RW, and if he were not there our choices would have been what? Rafinha and... Iniesta?
I also have a problem with signing someone on the last day and skipping the entire training period.

I agree. Munir played on the wings and as the striker in pre season and scored and performed well in both of those roles. Paco is a pure 9. Tello's agent even said during the summer that Tello would be ok staying with us if we couldn't move him to Fiorentina. Keeping Munir alone was a better idea given he can play all 3 forward positons, and adding Tello to the mix (both of these options are also free) and we would be pretty set, and imo better off than what we are now with Paco as the back up 9 and Turan/Rafinha/Iniesta backing up the wings vs having Munir as the 9 and Tello backing up the wings. I was all for bringing in another forward, but I expected someone ala Munir, meaning someone that can play all 3 forward positions when needed. Not someone that can only play 1 of them.
For the record, Paco isn't a bad player at all but I would of preffered to keep one of Munir/Tello to back up the wings along with Paco as oppose to using a midfielder like Turan/Rafinha to back up the wings. Just seems more dynamic to the over all role of the entire squad. Like Pedro, a fast player that can hug the lines to spread the defense then cut in with speed and catch a ball and possibly hopefully put it away or create for someone else. We didn't need some Robben level back up player, those guys we had were more than sufficient.

That's certainly fair and I would actually agree with you IF I didn't think that the club might ponder playing Paco on either the right or left wing, and if he can pull it off. I think he could tbh, though then we're again at fault for buying a player and playing him in a different position from his natural.
I personally just don't think Munir was good enough for us. He was alright back up, but I see a lot more in Paco.
I guess what I'm saying is that I don't have a problem with this transfer in isolation, I completely agree with you issues regarding depth in the front line, but I see that more as a failure of the club prior to the purchase of Paco--not because of it.

Re: Transfer Rumours V6
What exactly do you see in Paco that Munir can't accomplish? As mostly a starter, Paco has at most reached 15 goals (in 40 comps) last season. Munir last season hit 8 in 26 apps mostly as a sub. Mind you Munir is 2 or 3 years younger, and can play all 3 forward positions while Paco is mainly a 9. For a back up for us, and even as a starter, I would argue Munir has a vastly higher ceiling and has a wider range that he can provide given his versatility. I don't see Paco as some massive upgrade that some of you are making him out to be over Munir, nor am I saying he sucks or anything like that either. I just don't get all this talk of Munir not being good enough, when he was on a damn fine roll during pre-season and the few games he played for us last season. Not to mention he was clearly the best player in his age range in the UEFA Youth League, when he dominated the hell out of every club he played against, finishing with the most goals (11) and most assists (5) and leading Barca to a championship.

Would be great, although I like Sergi Roberto a lot. But he still could play as RB from time to time and as a DM cover.

Late. Ñiguez was the man instead of Gomes AND Arda if we didn't want to go all in for Pogba.
Alaba off course, everyone is interested in him but, Bayern don't sell, and for which position.
