Not the worse performance last night. Gray looks exciting but like all English wingers that come through seems to lack intelligence. Redmond's decision making is pretty poor as well.

Southgate must be very happy following their 3-0 win to Scotland

It seems very likely Southgate is going to get the job full time now, due to a shortage of candidates.

On one hand, it'll be a nice change of pace to have a young manager with more modern ideas in charge instead of the usual old school coach. Southgate turned the U21 side into a watchable team when he took over from Stuart Pearce, putting a lot more emphasis on keeping the ball and combination play.

On the other hand, his record at major tournaments was as bad as Pearce's. Sometimes his teams didn't use the ball well enough and looked toothless. I'm not convinced he has the charisma or strong leadership qualities to get this current England team together and get his ideas across.
