Dembélé is an example of a hyper-talented, hyperintelligent kid who gets easily bored and distracted as he constantly realizes noone can keep up with him.
I can't even keep up with his injury record.
As for Di Maria. His peak was short-lived, but I really think the majority on here are undermining how good he was when he was at his best. Low IQ aside, he was productive. I can't say the same thing about Dembele. For someone who's supposedly a technical marvel, Dembele's dribbling for Barcelona has very rarely looked impressive to me.
Di Maria has also had a long career and is 31 years old. Dembele is 22 years old.
At 22, Di Maria was just now arriving at Real Madrid having played in the Portuguese league for the last 3 years.
A lot can happen for Ousmane Dembele, it's up to him not to squander it. I doubt he has the kind of work ethic Di Maria had, but I think it's pretty unfair to compare the two in terms of their success at this moment when Dembele has so much ahead of him. I do think it's fair to compare their style as I have done.
With all of that being said, you can find a lot of really impressive dribbles he's had with Barcelona on youtube, not hard to find. They do often lack end product though, that's fair enough (although not entirely different from many of Di Maria's runs until he matured more). He scored one of the goals of the CL last season against Tottenham, for example.

Well, in terms of dribbling, Di Maria had a frustrating tendency to dribble past 1-2 players and then push his luck by attempting to dribble another one or two players before inevitably losing possession. Lucas Vasquez still occasionally does it, at the age of 28. Di Maria did it quite frequently during his early days in Madrid, which is why many fans on here referred to him as a headless chicken. Other than that, his crossing ability was fantastic and again, I think people on here undermine the level of productiveness he had towards the end of his career at Real Madrid.
A lot of the time when I watch Dembele, he fails to take on a single defender, and it honestly brings a smile to my face when I see him turn over possession as frequently as he seems to do sometimes. His blistering speed is useful, and I have watched him successfully dribble past opponent players with his trickery on occasion, but I'm not particularly impressed by his average level of productiveness. Of course, there's plenty of time for him to improve, and I don't doubt that he might go on to have a more accomplished career than Di Maria, but being injury prone at such a young age is not a good sign, and his decision-making needs a ton of work, from what I can tell - both on the pitch and off it

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
We've all waited too long. That favela kid Vinicius did better dribbles (still no end product) than Dumbo on his first half season arriving from a different continent in a malnourished state. This guy is French, he didn't need to adapt to the culture, can't even speak Spanish despite it being a language close to French (admittedly not as close as Portuguese).Hapless_Hans wrote:You'll all see.
The guy has had a poor attitude for too long. It's obvious from his body language. He doesn't care when he loses the ball multiple times due to clumsiness, and doesn't even show any determination to win it back. Barça fans shit on Sergi Roberto on a weekly basis but when he loses the ball he'll run to the ends of the world to recover it.
Thimmy said it best during one of the clásicos last season: every time Dembélé gets on the ball a Madrid counterattack is on the horizon.

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
Yeah, I can really see Dembele staying at Barcelona just to spite them. It's totally deserved to be fair, they did seduce him into being absolutely unprofessional while at Dortmund.

Let’s not forget that Barcelona made this guy thrash his rented apartment and miss training just to get his move. Sounds like karma that he refuses to leave now.

One, my life is pretty fine you ass. Two, Barcelona totally had a hand in Dembele's unprofessional behaviour. And you know what, they both deserve one another.

Good on Dembou for trying to prove himself after finally getting his dream move!
Now before you explode from anger, I don’t really give a shit about Dembele or Barcelona.

Haven't kept up with this saga, but I hope Dembele refuses a move if he doesn't like it. Barca > PSG anyway.

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
You claimed Barcelona made Dembélé thrash his house and not turn up to BVB training. That's all your wishful thinking. He's one of the most unprofessional players I've witnessed and he has also failed to show up to Barcelona training sessions without notice too. It's just you naturally hate Barcelona and you want to believe this scenario, that's all.
Modrić also did that to Spurs and nobody said Madrid made him do it. It's what an unprofessional and desperate player would do when he so wants to join a club. Nothing to do with Madrid.

I never said anything about trashing house, I literally said "unprofessional behaviour".
Also, I said what I said lol. They both deserve one another.
