Neville has bot been allowed to showcase anything in his time with the main roster. His work in NXT as a heel was quite good.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 25
Won't be long until WWE turns into a fully fledged indy promotion. RIP WWE.
There have been rumors of top indie star Ricochet, also known as the first-ever Lucha Underground Champion Prince Puma, coming to WWE for a while but according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it looks like there’s something to the speculation now.
Indie promoters looking to book summer dates with Ricochet have been told he isn’t taking any bookings after June of this year. One person close to Ricochet told The Observer that he will end up in WWE but that is not his immediate next move.
Ricochet’s current deal with Lucha Underground allows for an out after the third season, which wraps taping in mid-May. The contract also wouldn’t let him go to WWE until six months after season three finishes airing, which would be in 2017 some time. There could be some way around his non-compete with Lucha, which could see him come to WWE before next year, but there’s been no confirmation on that.

They're all scrubs with no charisma, character or uniqueness and are only being signed to pander to smarks, apparently.
Actually there's probably some truth to the second part of that statement.

I don't really care if they are from Indie, lucha libertadores or ROH or somewhere as long as they are actually entertaining.

The right approach to take IMO, i don't like all indies myself. For example i didn't like Sami Zayn until i watched his match with Nakamura which made me like him.

WWE's two biggest success stories in the last 5 years came from the indies so I can see why they are aggressively recruiting indie stars.

I wouldn't take too much from these reports anyway, they are doing a Cruiserweight tournament so obviously some of them are going to be involved in that.
It doesn't mean they are all going to be signed full time.

As is Kevin Owens
I don't count AJ Styles tbh as i don't consider TNA and NJPW indie.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 25
In essence there's nothing wrong with the indys. In recent memory, Punk and Bryan, 2 of the all time greats were from the indys.
The problem is there's a group of fans out there who watch indy promotions and they have a certain mentality on what wrestling should be. They think workrate (in ring ability) and delivering 5* star matches is the be all and end all of wrestling. The indy's usually focus on athletic ability over everything else and it's usually just one match after the other. There are very rarely any storylines and I would class it in a different genre to what the WWE is (sports entertainment). However casual fans aren't obsessed with in ring ability like those guys. Casual fans want a spectacle full of larger than life characters. They want storylines and drama.
And the WWE has NXT, a show dedicated to that niche indy audience. The problem is NXT is also WWE's developmental show, so most of the guys on there are eventually going to appear on the main show. Which is why I think NXT is failing to fulfil it's purpose of being a developmental show. Take Neville for example. On NXT the audience is going to cheer for him no matter what. He's from the indys and he can wrestle. On the main show? None of that plays a big part like it does on NXT. That's why they need the developmental system to be something that mirrors the main show. NXT should just become a third show imo.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 25
That is genuinely the idea though, because Vince and the other Raw writers doesn't use them in the same way they do in NXT isn't really NXT's fault.
I mean Reigns was a heel in NXT and he never has been anything close to that ( there's many more examples), Vince is a bad evaluator of talent is basically the problem when it comes to NXT guys coming up to the main roster.
The latest call ups are a shining example, Baron Corbin is nowhere near ready and quite frankly was nowhere near a main guy in NXT but Vince calls him up anyway. Apollo Crews wasn't that great in NXT, if anything he was somewhat of a disappointment really but Vince calls him up anyway.

They can't really use them in the same way, at least not in most cases. Neville can get by on his ring work alone and a 10 second backstage taped promo as an NXT main eventer, but there's no way in hell that would work as a main eventer on the main roster. It's a different environment and the requirements aren't the same.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 25
There's no reason why Neville couldn't be a good mid carder though
That's one of the issues with WWE atm, in the attitude era the whole card is interesting but now there's lots of drops where parts of the show isn't interesting.
But we have all repeated this a thousand times over where the mid card is completely irrelevant so they obviously don't seem to realize or care.

Neville can always be a good mid-carder. His match with Rollins was amazing few months back. Can be something like rey mysterio

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 25
I mean yeh, he can be good midcarder, but my point is in most cases copy and pasting things from NXT to WWE isn't really the way to go. The divas revolution thing didn't really make the impact WWE wanted it to have imo. And I remember a few months ago a Sasha/Becky match got a boring chant on RAW. That wouldn't happen in a million years on NXT.
So yeh, would be best to just have NXT as a third promotion and create a new developmental that's more in the style of the main show. But this time let the focus be on mic skills, character and storylines. Maybe try and hire some actors if former NFL players or whoever they sign aren't up to the mark.

Yeah i don't want everyone to be main eventers anyway, you'll get to a point where you want no one to lose

Pretty sure that's wrong lol, at least when it comes to Cena.
Must just be a base salary as i'm pretty sure Cena makes more than that, no one else does though and i think Orton is the next full time guy closer to around 2m.
