He squashed Cena in some poverty special event thing before getting AA'd to hell in what I think was that match

If you were a 9 foot 800 pound trained assassin they'd still book you to get squashed by Bork with zero offence.

The ending of Backlash 2007

PPV's that are right after Wrestlemania are usually underwhelming, watch the main event of Extreme Rules 2011 if you think Backlash 2007 main event was bad. Cena vs R truth and The Miz.

Khali was legit though when he first debuted. Had no problem with him getting World title feuds. His size alone had people in awe. Just a total monster the way he manhandled Taker on his debut.
But as soon as they turned him into a comedy dancer it was game over.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 25
Go away MT lol, he had no business doing any of that. Stop acting like it was anything but total shit.
It's basically the equivalent of booking Strowman to destroy Taker at Mania and saying he should be in World Title matches, nobody wants to see any of that lol.
The main event itself wasn't that bad, the ending just made me laugh.
It's pretty much a high point for 2007 though until November, as the whole year is garbage. Survivor Series and Armegeddon are high points for the year tbh and that's mainly due to Taker and Batista feud.

Khali had little to no wrestling skillset and couldn't speak English at all, wonder why Vince thought bringing him into WWE was a good idea.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 25
Same reason he always does it I'm glad there's less of it nowadays though. In the main event picture Reigns is probably the biggest guy.
A lot of big guys can't wrestle or/and talk and unless they can i have no interest in seeing them tbh.

The two matches in question do have storylines behind them though. Albeit it only started this week so there is probably more to come from them but still.
Doesn't matter though. If Fandango and Adam Rose, 2 jobbers had a storyline, would anyone care? That's my point. Divas are in the same tier as male jobbers. That's why nobody cares about them.
I cared about the Brie vs Steph storyline 2 years ago because it was a main event story. Likewise with AJ Lee/Punk/Bryan.
You're completely wrong there. That's saying Trish/Lita/Mickie/Victoria drew less and got less of a reaction than Carlito/Rob Conway/Shelton Benjamin/Simon Dean/Funaki/whatever other jobber was there around that time which is clearly not true. If they build the division and have female wrestlers that people care about, they will get over and they will draw. Sex shouldn't be, and isn't a barrier.
And in MMA, how come the women's bantamweight division have some of the most popular fighters and some of the most well drawing matches? Just because they're female doesn't mean they're at the bottom of the ladder. There's clearly a market out there for them.
Ronda Rousey became a draw because of her actual ability. That's what started the revolution. Not to mention UFC is a completely different organisation compared to the WWE.
With NXT obviously there's a niche audience who appreciate the art of wrestling. Now let me reiterate, it's a niche audience. The majority, which is the casual fans who make up the WWE audience don't particularly care for wrestling ability. So now they're trying to copy and paste what works on a one show, onto another. There's a lot of generalising going on. 'So and so female is doing well on this show, so they'll automatically do well in the WWE'. But people aren't considering the make up and structure of the shows prior to forming a conclusion. The WWE audience have long been conditioned to ignoring females and now they're force feeding a womens revolution to the fans because it's trendy. That sort of thing has to happen organically. The fact that they're acknowledging that's it's a revolution is alienating them because it's making the divas a separate entity to the rest of the roster. Like I said before, if you want people to care about the divas, you put them in major storylines with males.

My memories of Khali are him doing that Vice Grip and the crowd just going dead. I also vaguely remember the Punjabi Cage match.
All the guy was good for was attracting Asian viewers.

I actually enjoyed Khali's first run. His sheer size just wowed me at the time. He was towering over Taker in his debut and had an intimidating presence.

Yep, that's something the company has always tried to do but failed miserably, and now the Network is a thing expect more of that. At least this time got Nakamura, but we should also expect a new Jinder Mahal any time soon.

Wonder who the crowd would cheer in a Cena vs Reigns feud.

Right now it would be Cena clearly lol, people actually like him again now because he's been a way for a while.
I'm actually interested to see what they do with Cena and Orton tbh, as both have them have jumped from mid card and main event in recent memory.
