Re: Official: Rafa Benítez to newcastle
This manager change was really needed to have some fresh air among our fanbase. So happy to support my old beloved club once again and I have no doubts with Rafa we are definitley going to stay up.

Re: Official: Rafa Benítez to newcastle
lets analyse
Bottom 5 teams
Swansea at 33 points
Sunderland 25 points
Newcastle 24 points
Aston Villa 16 points
Swansea are very unlikely to get relegated. They are too good. However they play chelsea, liverpool and city in the last 10 games
Sunderland and Newcastle will battle it out for the last relegation spot. Both have equally difficult games.
Norwich's last 3 games are against arsenal, united n everton.
Newcastle will have to battle hard but they can do it. They face norwich, sunderland and swansea. They need to beat all 3 at all cost. And beat Tottenham too in the last match.

Re: Official: Rafa Benítez to newcastle
You underestimate the effect a team on the slide has tbh.
I know from experience that when a slide starts it's very difficult to stop so Palace are still in this as they are currently without a win in 12 games. Swansea are winning games and have confidence so they'll be fine IMO.
We are one point from safety with a game in hand and couldn't have hand picked easier fixtures tbh. Under any situation i'd usually expect to stay up as one point is nothing but we have been so shite it's hard to really be so confident.
We have Sunderland at home next weekend, win that and we'll stay up IMO.

Newcastle have 24 points, not 23.
Makes your whole analysis moot.
Apart from that I largely agree.

Re: Official: Rafa Benítez to newcastle
went to Toon Forum to see how they felt about this, I do not regret it
On Benitez Coming to NUFC
"I'd cut my c*** off, eat my own cut off c***, s*** out my now digested c*** and then eat my s*** out c*** remants."
Don't bookmark this..."
"Still time for Steve Kean or Gary Megson."
"Steve Kean won't be available anyway. He'll be out fighting lions barechested in Africa searching for the next Yaya Toure."
"Won't someone please think of the children? Oi. Not you Johnson!"

Re: Official: Rafa Benítez to newcastle
Next up for Newcastle is the Tyne-Wear derby against Sunderland on Sunday, when the stakes could hardly be higher. “Every game is important but this one is the most important because it is the next one, it’s a derby,, and because of the position in the table,” Benítez said.“I told the players they have to play without anxiety, because they will make more mistakes. They have to play with great commitment, working really hard, but they have to use the brain and try and play good football. In this way we can create more chances and maybe take more chances.”
I *bleep* love him already, None of the usual bullshit about it being a battle or the winner will be whoever wants it most. Of course commitment is important, but just as important is making your quality count. He really is a breath of fresh air.
I'll be absolutely devastated if we go down and he leaves.

Re: Official: Rafa Benítez to newcastle
He isn't about "give yer all lads. Lets ruffle their feathers in the derby" type and has never been that type of manager.
Newcastle should win the match comfortably

Rafa vs Sam Allardyce
Perhaps even more enmity there than between the clubs they manage.

Re: Official: Rafa Benítez to newcastle
Come off it RG
Not his fault anyway, he just arrived too late. He'll leave in the summer when we go down and that small sliver of hope is gone.
