Re: Next Manager thread
Freddie Ljungberg is returning as a youth coach.
Most papers tonight are going with the Arteta/Allegri stuff. Allegri is a choice, but Arteta is a strong candidate.
However, Ornstein did stress that other candidates were involved, including Vieira, though he "senses" he won't get it.

Re: Next Manager thread
Allegri is the best fit of all the links I've seen.
- He has actually managed a club before.
- He has won titles and competed in the CL (which should be our ultimate goal)
- He specializes in defensive organisation which is our biggest weakness.
-Our best players fit in his two strikers system with an -attacking midfielder behind them.
- His name demands respect and so will the club if we appoint him.
On the other hand if we appoint bums like Arteta or Vieira we'll be a laughing stock for years.

Re: Next Manager thread
Top coach No denying that
But Juve most dominant club in italy and he took over after Conte, well drilled team and already 3 times champions
6th placed team with limited budget, poor defensively and very different mindset

Re: Next Manager thread
Nagelsmann might be the middleground of both good football and experience (eventhough he is like 38 himself)
But his release clause seems to be a problem.

my perception pretty much as well.
Although I would give people like Arteta and Vieira a chance, however I would expect disasters more than anything that resembles solidity and an upward trajectory.

Re: Next Manager thread
With all that said I would be delighted if Nagelsmann was the man but it seems like he is determined to stay for one more year to play CL football with Hoffenheim.
Jardim too.

38? Nagelsmann is 30. THIRTY. A club the size of Arsenal, as successor of Arsene Wenger no less, is far too early and far too big a step for him IMO

Re: Next Manager thread
Experience is what's important, not age.
Nagelsmann has shown that he can overachieve with a team that has a smaller budget than the rest of their rivals while also losing key members of the squad.
He's shown that twice, he's ready.

bare in mind that it's more guess work. But it does seem like an informed opinion at this stage.

He has shown that at Hoffenheim though, a club literally noone cares about, that is pretty much the lowest expectations environment in world football.
Arsene Wenger successor at Arsenal is the highest expectations environment in world football.
Just saying.

I would agree if we were talking about Bayern, Barca, Real Madrid etc...
We're not a super club though, our expectations are not that high. If the new manager makes this team a top 4 contender he will already have exceeded Wenger's final two seasons, anything more than that and he will be a massive success already. The new manager will likely get a second season as well so there'll be plenty time to get it right.

Think it's going to be Ancelotti
though I don't understand why you're not going hard for Sarri since he seems available

Re: Next Manager thread
Which is frustrating, I get that Allegri might not be available, but Ancelotti would be a good stop gap signing until we get someone in the longer term.
