you do realize this isn't 1999 , right ?
Barça would bitch slap every single team in serie A just as hard as they would do in Ligue 1 .
at least PSG has the financial means to buy success and push them a bit .
You can't honestly believe that lol. Like RG said Ligue 1 would be another SPL with Barca. In Serie A Juve, Roma, Inter, Napoli, Fio, and Lazio would all be able to give them a game.
Tbh I wouldn't even be shocked if Barca didn't win the title in Serie A, whereas in Ligue 1 that would be a disaster.

Let's be real here, Barca would walk Serie A. Would have a higher lead than Juve usually does.

With Barca in Lique,Sports would have no choice but to switch to either PSG (he's already partialy there) or Barca (that would be a day to behold!) and then he would go on a campaign to get Benz, Griesman, Pogba, Giroud, Lloris, etc back to Lique!

You are delusional Serie A fans... But that's ok.
As far as Ligue 1, it would drive a lot more media revenues and teams would start getting better. PSG would give Barca 100x more competition than any team in Serie A. Like La Liga, it would be a 2 horse race.

It's a moot discussion anyways. More chances of Jesus returning than Barcelona leaving La Liga.

and you honestly believe that the Roma that lost to BATE , or the Lazio that couldn't make it to the group stages of the CL , or the Fiorentina that never did anything noteworthy in Europe could mount a serious challenge ?
the only rival Barça would have in the league is a healthy Juve, and they're clearly better than them .

All this discussion for a fictional idea of an independent Catalunya
It reminds me alot of Scotland's poverty attempt at separating from the UK. All this talk but when the vote happens the pro separatists will wish they hadn't pushed for the vote in the first place

Look at the Lol 1 hopefuls in this thread
I think you should be more worried about your pedestrian league drowning into further mediocrity after being overtaken by the likes of Russia and maybe even Ukraine than imagining utopian scenarios
Enough delusion for today (:

A door open to my dream!
Although I would prefer playing in the BPL or even Serie A, I'd gladly move to Ligue 1. Thank you Mr. Valls for the invitation.
However, I'm almost sure what will happen when we become independent in the next years, is that the spanish league will remain in place.

Ehum, FYI the vote has already happened and we have won. 72 seats out of 135 and 48,2% of pro independence vote vs. 39% of against independence vote (rest of votes not defined on the issue).

It appears that the Catalan nationalist cause has found an overseas ally. French Prime Minister Manuel Valls has opened the doors to the French League to the Catalan giants.
An article in the magazine 'Challenges' said that the politician, who is a massive Barça fan, is willing to offer the Catalan club a place in France's top flight. "All things considered, Monaco play in the French League, so..." said Manuel Valls in France.
Overseas ally??? exactly what sea are you envisioning between Spain and France? And as to Catalans being part of ligue, what currency would be used (I think you know that EU has clearly stated that any separated area from an existing member would not be accepted into EU nor would they be able to use the Euro currency)
Yes, like Monte Negro and Kosovo use their own money !

While I agree with you that Barca would walk Serie A.
It's bullshit that PSG would give Barca "100x" competition than Juve.

Or Andorra (non EU) using the euro.
Or Panama using the dollar.
Spanish nationalist arguments are so poor.

Why you say "still" when it's now more possible than ever? If anything, current events have reinforced the option of independence, not the opposite as you make it seem.
Here, just a peak of what has happened in Catalonia the last 4 years:
11 september 2015:
Queues to vote in the unofficial 9N referendum and below the result (Si-Si are votes in favour of independence):
2012, 2013 and 2014 demonstrations:
Results of 27 september plebiscite elections on independence, with the highest turnover in history. Both Junts pel Sí and CUP pledged to unilaterally create a catalan republic and won.
And why we do all this, our fuel and values:

Players with double nationality could choose where to play. Current players could also decide if keep playing for Spain or move to Catalonia, as it has happened in previous situations.

Perhaps. But the word "still" makes no sense when it's more possible than ever.
I would also want to know why you think it won't happen when it happened for more than 160 countries in the world, and many of those from Spain.
FYI, next week the catalan parliament approves a motion stating our intention to become an independent republic in the future months and letting it know to the world.

Well you can try. Good luck with it. I don't think Spain will just let it happen like that and if there really will be a referendum I expect something like 35-40% in favour of independence.

Re: French Prime Minister Valls opens the door for Barca to join Ligue 1
Oh let him have his say.
He thinks mass demonstrations is a legal vote. That slide he shows of the result of illegal referendum was so heavily influenced that most people didn't bother to vote. In the real vote, the one he claims was for independence (it was just a regional election), the parties not wanting separation got 51% of the votes!!! Sure this government can declare they want independence, they have been saying so for a couple of years now, but the fact is they can't determine this on their own without some law revisions by the central government. This whole election was to put pressure on the central government to some revisions, but that 51% vote hardly changes anything.
Meanwhile, he conveniently says nothing about the Mas issues. He is in legal trouble on several fronts. The most notable is the fraud charges. Their politicians have been milking taxpayer dollars for years in addition to corruption with tendering influence peddling. Yet, somehow this is all put off to unfair attacks by central government!!! Just to give you an example of this: Jordi Puyol, Mas' father-in-law and previous political head of Cataluna, has stored away in off shore tax havens, billions (yes that's billions not millions). His salary (somehow legal) was 700+million euros!! As comparison, the head of United States, gets a salary around 250 million dollars??? Yet, these guys will have you think there is nothing wrong with their political leaders taking all these tax payer dollars

The closest thing possible to a referendum in Spain just happened and independence won.
You didn't give me any reason. So ok.

In the elections we got 48% of vote in favour of indepencence, 39% against it and parties that didn't want to define themselves on the issue and said they weren't on the NO side, got the rest. Here, I'll let the guardian explain:
The Guardian wrote:JPS and the CUP won a majority of seats after both standing unambiguously for issuing a unilateral declaration of independence in case of success. On a record general turnout of 77%, they received 48% of votes compared to the 39% for parties opposing independence. However, the Spanish political and media establishment have constructed a supposed majority rejection by including in the “no” figure the 11% that backed Podemos’s coalition (CSQP), which remained agnostic over independence (despite including support for an independent Catalan constitutional process in its manifesto).
Your second point is only partially true. It's true that Jordi Pujol, ex Catalonia president who WAS NOT independentist, commited tax fraud from an inheritance of some 3 milion euro from his father. That's the only proven thing. Him and his family are being heavily investigated to damage catalan independentism, the same way you use it. Only a long investigation will tell if Pujol and his familiy are corrupt, but anyway that won't bring down independence movement when he wasn't even independentist, Lol.
Also, you funnily avoid mentioning the widespread corruption in Spain, where the president is suspect of having received undeclared income from his party, half his party is in jail, and half the opposition party is also is going to jail in the biggest corruption case in Andalusia. Corruption is a latin thing and is not a factor either to get independent or not as both Catalonia and Spain have a lot to improve on it.
Our president Mas is not charged for absolutely anything related to corruption. He is only charged for being a democrat. For asking the catalans in 9th November 2014 if they want to be independent or not. Not even implementing this (so far). Never seen in a european democracy that a president is charged for asking the people what they want through the polls.

People are so ignorant of history. Catalonia is NOT Castillian Spanish. And they are the most economically productive region, so they can certainly live without Spain.
Real Madrid - Barcelona aside, Catalonia absolutely deserves their independence. And if that many people vote to secede from Spain, so be it.
I've seen posts on here saying things like "they should just accept being spanish, etc", but dude, it's like telling a kurd he should just accept being arabic doesn't make sense
