Varane opens the door for a transfer
On l'Equipe and picked up by Marca. On phone so can't paste.
Made his demand for playing every game clear. So it's in the open now. Unless he's promised to start when healthy, he will go. Must feel a lit of frustration to say anything like that to the media. He never says anything.

Don't blame him at this point. He is obviously better than Pepe and Ramos and is clear starter material.

Can't blame him tbh. He's the best central defender in the world but still third choice because of the political power of the other 2. Hope he doesn't leave

Re: Varane opens the door for a transfer
Varane is more overhyped than De Gea tbh. Best central defender in the world who can't get a starting place under severl coaches.
Basically the Bartra of Real Madrid.

Out trolling again!
See what offers Varane will get vs Bartra! I hear there are a lot of small clubs and more in 2nd that would like to have Bartra.
This news does signify there is an issue. The club has been trying to keep all three (Ramos, Varane and Pepe), but he right in being frustrated in being rotated with Pepe. The right thing to do is stop the rotation and tell Pepe he will be a backup. If Pepe doesn't like it, then let him be another 30+ that has to be replaced this summer.

Re: Varane opens the door for a transfer
He is not entirely wrong though, you dont become a starter with your mouth, you earn it on the pitch. He is still struggling to start over pepe even with Zidane as a coach, and he is not exactly having a good season.
It's a reality check, and he has no leverage.
That being said, there is nothing on Lequipe or Marca about Varane wanting to leave from what i can see, and he is not going anywhere anyway

Re: Varane opens the door for a transfer
Yes Varane isnt playing bexause of politics , Perez was ready to sell Pepe just 2 seasons ago, Mou benched him for half a season etc
Varane has been complaining every bloody season now. Other players have had 3/4 players to compete with with a much higher ceiling than him. When your own advocator isnt even playing you anymore it is time to look in the bloody mirror and cut out the Ramos esque performances and bloody improve. He has been consistently bad this season. From passing to reading of the game. Pepe is 10x the players Varane and Ramos are combined even at the age of 33.
Jeez too many whingers in this team. Lord take me back to the time we had fighters in our team rather than moaners

Please, next time, when you're about to create a new topic, make sure that the title accurately represents the content.
Unless you're referring to another interview other than this one, in which case I apologize in advance for misunderstanding you, I'm afraid there's nothing in it that corroborates that bold part in your post.
Varane simply said he would like to play every game, but understands that it's up to the coach to make those decisions. He never said, or insinuated that if his situation doesn't change, he'll go. He even said that he's happy at Real Madrid.

Re: Varane opens the door for a transfer
Varane is a smart guy and knows that within a few years (3-4) he'll be captain, or vice-captain behind Carvajal. Don't think he'll leave.

Re: Varane opens the door for a transfer
Misleading title of course. On the topic, we are being held back by our last generation imo, Marcelo who has been way too lazy in his defensive duties, Ramos who has lost the fire after he won every thing else, Pepe who simply declined, CR who is obsessed with individual performance than team... Even Benzema's isn't doing that good with his bs off the field. It's high time we replaced them with the next generation.
Re: Varane opens the door for a transfer
Read between the lines. He said in order:
- He wants to play every game and the coach is aware of it
- The coach makes the decisions and he respects that
- Although he loves Madrid, he says "football is football" but he's not going to worry about it until the season is over
That's about as direct as you can get while remaining respectful.

You should stick to defending your overrated one dimensional no talent German "forward" or "midfielder" named Muller than talking about things you clearly have no knowledge or understanding about.

Re: Varane opens the door for a transfer
Get? You make it sound like he can wish Varane into his new club. Any potential suitor is gonna have to pay quite a lot of money for the young defender. A price which I'm pretty certain is gonna over inflated big time.

Re: Varane opens the door for a transfer
His answers were patently obvious, unambiguous and clear with no double-entendre. Even l'Equipe at the beginning of the article said the following:
There's absolutely no hint or hidden, cryptic message from the interview that even remotely insinuates that Varane is unhappy and will seek pastures new if things don't change. What's clear though, is that L'Equipe tried unsuccessfully to get him to say that bold part in your first post.
Just a little bit of common sense should be enough to realize that it would be monumentally stupid for him to get impatient now. Pepe is 33 and the club gave him only a 2-year extension. That's, if you want to read between the lines, code for "you're no longer first choice". Varane on the other hand is 22 and his contract runs until 2020. He has no competition, and he'll sooner or later, get his spot, whether it's under Z or somebody else.
Unless the club decides, for some reason, to sell him , Varane has absolutely no reason to get impatient and make ultimatums. What he should do, however, is to focus on improving and getting back to his best because he hasn't been that great lately.
"Apparently, the Frenchman isn't that much worried about the situation. Could it be that he's naive, very nice?"Visiblement, la situation n’inquiète pas plus que ça le Français. Serait-il un peu naïf, trop gentil ?

Varane (2169' - 1732' La Liga, 437' Champions League)
Ramos (1919' - 1500' La Liga, 419' Champions League)
Pepe (1802' - 1437' La Liga, 277' Champions League, 88' Copa del Rey)
Is this for real ?

Re: Varane opens the door for a transfer
Pepe and Ramos have been injured/suspended a lot... so that makes sense. The issue is that in big games, Varane has been the odd man out if all 3 are healthy.

I don't necessarily think he's overhyped, although "best central defender in the world" is quite an exaggeration. You shouldn't be surprised to read a statement like that, on here. However, I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that he's one of the very best, young, CBs in the world, and that makes him a very valuable player.
