Did he have anything to do with the transfers? if that's the case, he does deserve some credit.
Given how he had no clue how to fit some of the players that were brought in and given how quickly he was sacked for making Chelsea look worse than a midtable team, I'm not so sure tbh.

He's a Di Matteo as of right now, lets see 6 months down the line what happens
This final was less of a Tuchel masterclass and more of a Pep disasterclass

Yeah... it's Mourinho style football. Let's see how long players are willing to do it. Typically, year 2 is good and then the ship sinks in year 3.
Granted, it's much more defensive at Chelsea. Tuchel could not play this style at PSG.

The way Chelsea dismantled Atletico and Madrid in the second leg was not exactly defensive nor Mourinhesque.
It's given for Guardiola's opponent to play defensively.

Mourinho earlier in his career... not what he's become recently. Regardless of either version, it only works for 2-3 years because it eventually wears thin with the more creative players with an ego. Of course, it's not like Chelsea are full of creative players anyhow. Pulisic is on the bench, who is about the only one. Kai H is as well... but he's multi-dimensional. He's a complete midfielder that could play in any style. It comes down more to ego the more I think about it.
It's predicated on defense, transition, speed and directness. Nothing wrong with it at all. It has a shelf life though.

Re: Thomas Tuchel Appreciation Thread
Except this game was a far from a Mourinho-esque performance except for the last 15-20 minutes.
Chelsea outplayed City for most of the game. Don't know what people are talking about here.
None of the Chelsea games I saw in CL screams Mourinho to me.

He's implemented a great system. Not sure why he continues to get hate. If you don't win CL you're a failure with PSG?

He brought in Mount who was quite an unknown and straight away a starter, so deserve credit for that. Although the likes of Abraham now isnt even considered, just like Giroud, and many teams nowadays, slow strikers doesnt offer enough for the best teams. Hope Lampard goes to other clubs or whatever to learn and improve his trade b4 trying to manage a big club again.

Was begging us to sack Wenger for Klopp, we didn‘t.
Was begging again to sack Arteta for Tuchel, we didn‘t again.

Absolutely feeling vindicated for supporting Tuchel!

Re: Thomas Tuchel Appreciation Thread
I don't understand how people are comparing the final to a Simeone game.
Tuchel did not park the bus, Chelsea were not overly defensive or aggressive, the game had a very nice flow, no stop and start tactics. Only at the very end they were defending deep.
Chelsea put a very balanced game plan and outplayed City.
Maybe like Sports says, early Mourinho, pre-Madrid madness.

Re: Thomas Tuchel Appreciation Thread
The comparison to Mourinho is very off, because generally Tuchel's Chelsea really strives to dominate the game and also possession, it's just that against this City he chose that he needed to adapt and focus on compactness and transition.
Possession only went down starkly at the end, before it was like 55-45
Mourinho basically refuses possession as a matter of strategy (a strategy that hasn't worked for a decade)

3 - Thomas Tuchel is just the second manager to record three consecutive wins in all competitions against Pep Guardiola (excl. Barcelona B), after fellow German Jürgen Klopp did so in 2018 with Liverpool. Masterminds. #UCLFinal pic.twitter.com/s8T4xVuGnv

Dude's cookie dough and a confused man. Never seems to know what is his best starting eleven, when for starters it's so clear Chillwel is their best LWB and James should be playing RWB.

Re: Thomas Tuchel Appreciation Thread
Wow... at first I thought he proved me wrong by getting results so fast when he joined Chelsea, beating everyone somehow without having the best players, amazing I thought, n then not long after this. Recently the incident with Conte actually earned my respect more, so on idea whats happening
Business as usual for Chelsea? New owners are no different to Abramovich when it comes to firing managers then
More interested now where Tuchel will be next then who is Chelsea next manager tbh... top 4 incoming for Man U all of a sudden? XD
